how would ashley fiolek stack up against guys?

i just watched a video on racerx of her and shes really quick but i recall hearing that she was thinking of trying to do the nationals. Nothing against her for a girl shes amazing but i think shes maybe only a quick B rider. What are all your opinions?

Based on past lap times she could probably qualify for a national.

This is me being sexist and some sort of prejudice against deaf people, but she'd probably either get run over or hold up someone who didn't want to slam into the little deaf girl.

She would not qualify for a national, the lap times are usually about 5-10 seconds behind the 40th guy. She hauls, but she isn't qualifying.

who was the hotshot chick a few years ago? Stefy Bau, or something like that... I think she tried to qualify at GH one year... It was silly.

She was at a local track one day, she was slow, back of the beginner class slow. I was surprised because if you can flip a bike I figured you'd have some sort of skill. This was by no means a hard track and she didn't even jump several jumps that were fairly simple. Makes the back flip she did that much more impressive. I wouldn't say she's a joke because she is pretty nuts, but I wouldn't exactly call her a racer.

The women's world motocross championship is alot faster and deeper in talent. Why do you think Ashley didn't win every race? Isn't she suppose to be doing most of the championship over here this year...

I'm sure somebody could go find the EXACT stats but the WMA went out right before the lites LCQ at High POint last year. Her times would have put her midpackish in the lcq.

I would bet she could step it up and qualify... she goes fast enough to beat the women's class on a regular basis... but that's as fast as she needs to go based on the competition. Get her competing against the guys and I suspect she would pick it up enough over time to be competitive.

I guess it all depends on who shows up at a given National and what the talent crop was for that year. The top 10 are always gonna be hauling, but the 30 below that varies year-to-year. If the variables all lined up and she finds a little more speed, she might qualify for one. Unfortunately, lack of testosterone and the muscle mass it makes possible will eventually govern things.

It's not that difficult to go look up the results for yourself and see. It took me 30 seconds to look up timed practice/qualifying at Glen Helen last year.

Ashley Fiolek - 3:05.522

Ryan Dungey - 2:35.263

Where does she stack up? Well.. the 65th rider on the list of 70 total Lites riders attempting to qualify was Steven Stultz with a 3:05.329. So she would have been the 66th qualifer, not exactly close to making a 40 man gate. Looking at other events the WMA raced on the same track as the AMA series yeilds similar results. Ashley specifically (the rest of the WMA is even further off pace) is over 30 seconds a lap off-pace of the leaders, and 13 seconds a lap off-pace of 40th.

Short answer - no. She wouldn't qualify.

I think she is going as fast as she can go. I think she should just do it and see what happens. That said, I don't think it would be pretty.

I was friends with a gal up here in the NW Traci Flemming , who was the actual women's champion at the time. Thinking 2001 - 2003 sometime....can't really remember. But up here she raced against the boys at the same time , and she was in the middle to the back of the pack in the junior classes.

This is what really cracks me up. There was a guy on here that i got in an argument with about the women racing the men in the pro classes. he tried to tell me that Steffy , Jessica , Ashley and a few others were putting in the same lap times as RC was on certain tracks , just a few years ago! Riiiiiggghhttt!! He was saying that the women are putting in the same lap times as the top guy , only about 3-4 years behind......I about fell out of my chair.

Ashley is a great rider! Nobody can argue that........but it may sound harsh , but i honestly don't see any woman in the near future being able to compete at a national level. Who knows....it may happen , but honestly , it would take a freak of nature to be able to do it!

Im talking about that 'woman' who was competing in track that had testes up inside 'her' body and was getting testosterone and beat all the real women in track.

Short answer, no she couldn't qualify. But that is not a knock on her ability. She's a champion and an inspriation to many. Just like Zack Bell and Adam Ciancirulo are fast and champions in their own right, but they are not on the pace with Ryan Dungey or RV either.
