They pay Tomac to go fast and make their gear look good... but i think he’s making it look cheap as crap lol

|

If your pants don’t fall off, you’re not riding fast enough.

Looks like it could use a redesign. Are those Velcro straps on the side?

It's not garbage. I've owned their boots and gear and both hold up extremely well.

We're talking about Eli Tomac here not some B class weekend warrior. The pants are fine for you and I.

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not too sure.

Pretty sure his pants just break from lugging those giant balls around

last week we had people saying being harder on your bike did NOT make meckanicals more likely.....

this week we have someone saying a person can be harder on his PANTS and therefore will more often fail....

ffs how stupid can this place be?

A-stars boots? Yes
A-stars gear? Thats a no-no

On a serious note, does ET3 consider looking for a.different brand in the off season?

Why do you not see other A-Stars guys having the same issues? (Barcia/Herlings)

This thread will deliver I predict, nice start thus far.

Eli was absolutely hauling ass yesterday. Freaking insanew00t

I was at the race and watched Eli from a couple of different places on the track. Got home and watched that second moto on the NBC Gold app. When I saw him fucking with his pants while he was running down and destroying 1 and 2 I went, "WUUUUUTT?!?!?!?!"

|

7/29/2018 11:28 AM

They should make Eli start at the back of every moto with his pants down. 4 seconds per lap faster than the leaders towards the end of the race...
That was fun to watch. cool

|

The gear is custom made and Eli wants the lightest gear he can possibly get so it’s obviously not super durable. That said I’ve seen all brands have a failure over the years but two in one season doesn’t look great for them.

They will stay up for you because you are as fast as a snail compared to Eli. He puts 10x the force on those straps than you could ever wish to.

If I were on Eli’s pants I would let that go once....twice I’d be looking for a new clothing sponsor.

I must say that was one of the most incredible displays of riding I have ever witnessed.
To be cutting 3-4 secs a lap off of the leaders at the end of the Moto was unreal.

You obviously don’t know how much money A-Stars is paying Eli to wear that stuff ! There’s NO other gear company that could afford to pay him what he’s making.

With that said... I wouldn’t buy it. But that’s just me

You are right about that, I have no idea what they pay him. So is Alpinstars the big dollar gear sponsor in the series?

Sure seems to be pissing away a lot of $$$ for negative results. I don’t pay much attention to anyone’s gear unless they r having to pull up those britches n the middle of the race

I don't think the pants were designed to be durable enough for someone with 10lb brass balls, that's all. You have no worries, you'll be fine with them.

Um.. does anyone remember that a digger caused the first failure? I wouldn't question quality when yesterday was likely just a freak accident. It's not like every pro with astars is DNFing to pants mechanicals. Personally, I'd run a couple layers of bailing wire around my waist, just in case. Or maybe a ratchet strap

|

7/29/2018 4:36 PM

Don’t strap them and they still won’t fall off for you.

The A-Star pants have the new Thermo-Control feature. In high heat conditions, they automatically vent out the back for cooling. Very high tech stuff.
