Good enough to make mains in the 450's in SX. More importantly he's a good dude with a positive outlook after a life changing experience.

Was was, look at him now. Still positive after going what he went through. He still is trying to give back to the sport. Moto hero in my book.

He's a good kid who got to live his dream of racing professional supercross. I always kind of followed him because he's a Texan and saw him riding locally.

Since his accident he's done nothing but give back to the sport he knows and loves.

James is a hero to me.

James was "that guy" from Texas that actually was getting there, the closest one in a long time.

James was a good rider, and a good kid to boot.

I am not the kind of guy that has a lot of hero's, but people like James, Aaron Baker, Jack Ricks, Chris Daubitz, Ernesto and a whole lot of others are my hero's.

I remember going to the pro challenge in I think 01 or 02. He was on a cr125 and killing it. after the main race, windham won, there's was people everywhere as the pros got off the track. Windham said he couldn't give his goggles or jersey to fans. When James came through, finishing 2nd, I watched him give away everything he had on except his boots, pants and helmet. That is one memory I will never forget of the outlaw, what an amazing person! To this day I still have the special edition TLD hot wheels jersey he gave me...

Big show says it all.

Means very, very, very good.

Some guys are more successful than others at the top level but let's not forget how skilled the guy's are that make these mains.

I hope James keeps doing well.

Great post jmar.

On Topic - James was one of the faster guys in Texas during his run, and as stated in previous posts...made night shows and mains in Supercross.

Off Topic - great shout to the other cats jmar !!

1) We just featured Jack Ricks in our "Flashback Times" in Holeshot Magazine - Issue 3 2010 ((Kyle Regal cover) -- Jack gives a great insight to his career up until his injury. We also just featured Roy Schellenberger as well in Issue 4 2010 (Brad Frace cover).

2) Crazy you mention Chris Daubitz. Chris is my business partner! To this day... Chris is the most sound, positive and energetic person I HAVE EVER known. A total class act, that has never even acknowledged the downside of the cards that were dealt to him in Feb '94! Chris has never been negative.... NEVER !

Just about anyone who rides will say that they are as big of a motocross fan as one can be, but James is absolutely moto to the core. Out of everyone I ever knew back in my racing days, he was the only one who truly lived, ate, and breathed racing motocross. I always wished I'd been born with just a small fraction of his talent, focus and determination. There are several races I remember watching him in that I'll never forget... but the one in particular that sticks out in my head would be Millville '02, which I believe was his first attempt at an outdoor national. He qualified in the 125 class, and those of us in attendance from Texas went absolutely bat shit crazy. Talking to him afterwards, he must've been the happiest person on the planet. So awesome. He has always been and will always be an inspiration to me.

PS - he also caught my goggles when I threw them to the crowd (only chance I'd ever have to do such a thing, since I'm in no way, shape or form a bad ass at anything) after winning a pit bike race at the Ft Worth Arenacross, haha.

I vividly remember a day at Highlands MX Park when I was on top of my game and really haulin' ass for a slow guy. I came into a corner hotter than ever and before I could come out of it I was eating roost from James' rear tire. Don't know where the hell he came from. I literally said "son-of-a bitch" inside my helmet. It was a thing of beauty.

He scrubbed a table at Blackfoot park in Calgary so violently I was speachless!!

The camera guy caught it, and it made it to tv...he even pulled a tear off at the same time!
Someone should edit it to youtube.

Hey bud,
I was laid up at the time you got hurt, feeling sorry for myself etc.
I then concerned myself with you and Ernesto around the same time after learning of your similar injuries. Praying every day for you, at that time.
Just wanted you to know that people who you have no idea exist care and are concerned for your future.
You have truly impressed me (I know you have had to have many dark days).
But dude you ROCK!
Good having you join us on this board. Thank you for the opportunity to address you as personally as possible.

Sincerely, jimmie

The tribute done in his honor at the Houston SX a couple years ago was one of the most inspiring moto stories I've heard.
