I say find a heat activated glue and a hair dryer. Most glues don't stick to well to clear coat. Otherwise, contact a good helmet painter and ask them.

Do you think using silicone would work

No, you need a water based glue. Go to Akron coatings website or just google heat activated glue.

I ordered a white trim piece for the eye opening on mine from Shoei and asked them what kind of glue to use. They told me to use super glue and it worked fine. Just make sure you line everything up good before you start applying glue. Be careful and use less than you think is necessary. A tiny bit will make it stick and you don't want any oozing out around the edge of the trim and getting on your fingers or the surface oh the helmet. The worst part was getting the original trim off. Take your time and don't get in a hurry!

That's a great idea. And no offense to Olds but it's probably a lot easier to apply than super glue

None taken. Sounds like a good idea to me. The only reason I used the super glue is because I emailed shoei's customer service and that's what they told me to do

Pro Taper grip glue is just like super glue. Basically the same thing.

So you can get a full spray coat on the whole helmet. If you just paint up to that part your will have a define paint lap that is likely to chip. The same reason auto body shops take off trim pieces on the outside of a vehicle to paint it. Then The pieces get reapplied

3M rubber trim adhesive.
Available at almost any car parts store. (Advanced Auto etc)

Dont put too much - you dont want it to ooze out when you press the molding back onto the hlemet.
