If you can get a pair of 12's on clearance, buy them. You'll never regret it.

Just picked up a new pair of sg12's. First ride with them was this past weekend. Comfortable out of the box, great ankle coverage/protection and the best buckle system available.

Just curious how long you guys get out of these boots? I generally hang in the $200 range. I'm currently wearing the Fox Comp 5 and wore a different brand in the same price range previously. I've had a few bad getoffs and they seem to protect me adequately. Maybe I haven't had the "right wreck". They seem to last two years. If I'm going to drop $500 on a pair of boots, I'd like them to last at least 4 years. Seems like an unrealistic expectation but I have no experience to back that up.

I'm currently running the SG-10s which I picked up on clearance 2 yrs ago for $279. No question they'll go another 2 yrs. more comfy than my old Tech 8s which I never cared for the bootie.

my tech 8s, (ive had 3 pair) usually last 3 seasons before needing the re-up. imho, alpinestars has lost it. my next boots will be sidis or gaernes. and that is coming from a guy that had alpinestars gear shipped in from overseas

Broke down and bought a pair of sg12s back in 2010. I have never had a pair of boots hold up as well as they have. Worth every penny

Sounds like I may be giving the Gaerne's or Sidi's a shot. I like the sound of Sidi. They're involved in the bicycle scene and have a good reputation there as well. Sidi Crossfire 2 SRS? I'm not entirely out on Gaerne's either. Might have to try them both on.

Good info guys.

I am a hobby level rider, but I've had a pair of SG10's for over 4 years now and they are by far the best pair of boots I've owned. Gaerne makes quality stuff.

I"m on my third year with SG10s and they are holding up great.

Gaerne's last me at least 2 seasons, and I ride A LOT. Might try SG10s again next rather than the SG12s I have now. Both are damn good boots.

I have a pair of 12's....love them. Great fit, super comfortable and no break in period. Better than my tech 8's by far.

The only thing that took some time to get used to was the tall toe box. Missed a few shifts, one resulted in a huge header and trip to the hospital. Raised my shifter up 2 notches and been good every since. But I am more aware of when I shift now.

I have a SG12's pair for un year and a half, and i ride a lot. As everyone said, great boots. Fit well, good protection and great durability. I also have Alpinestars Tech 10, 8, 7 and 3, a pair of Jett and a Forma. I use the Gaerne's 90 % of the time...

Using Gaerne SG10 and React. Both great boots. Some riders found the SG12 too big physically. But all depends on your age...........Gaerne do not make a bad boot and they do not seem to fall to pieces either....

Yeah I had sg10's for a few years and they were awesome. Then got a pair of the sg12's and they're amazing. They've lasted 3+ years and don't have much wear. I don't get to ride as much as some people but still, they've lasted longer than any other boots I've had. And pretty much no break in time. Perfect out of the box.

I'm wearing SG12s and they are the most comfortable boot I've EVER worn.

And I like the fact that they're actually "Made in Italy".

I had a set of sg12 and blew out the heal stitching in one season. Called them up on warranty and they shot me down and said they would give me 25% off of a new pair. Got ahold of my dealer and he talked to the tucker rocky rep and somehow I needed up getting a new pair. When I have to buy a new pair it will be sidi due to that situation and how it was handled. Alpinstars 8 and 10 would last me a season and the sole would be shot.

The Sidi SRS and regular Crossfires are VERY different fitting boots. If you have wide feet the SRS will not suit you but the regular soled ones will be great. Vice versa for narrow feet.
