Today! On Kijiji! A 1978 RM 125, and it started right up! Everything is there, and for a 32 year old bike it is pretty minty. This was by far my favorite bike of all time and have been looking forever to find one to restore and do some vintage racing with. I'm pumped!

Here is the kicker-this same bike belonged to one of my best friends, who rode it as an expert level rider (in Canada). Still had his number on the side plates!

Too much. Can't wait to tear that baby down and give it some serious TLC over our long ass winters.

The year Suzuki made not only the '78, but the '78 1/2s models....Nice catch; send over some pics.

great bike but imo that model didnt look so good, the plastic tank and guards were a bit naff compared with the nice alu the a and b models had.

nice find, in great condition and a history!

Never had a 78' , as I would of only been 10 years old. But i owned a used 1982 RM125 in 83'-84. It was my first real race bike.

Good job Bents on finding the dream bike man!

The only C-2 model for 78 1/2 was the 250. No 125 or 400 C-2. They were C models.

I have a brand new pipe and brand new swingarm off a 78. Found them in my Dad's attic when I was home a few years ago. They were pulled off my 78 before it was ridden to install a LOP swingarm (17" Fox airs, yes) and a Fox pipe/top end. Along with the 36mm Mikuni, MotoTek ignition, Twin Air, Simon's forks, Preston Petty front fender, translucent side panels and front number plate (can't recall the brand??), and Metzler tires.

Wish I had that thing back.....

I always loved the light and dark blue stripes against the yellow on Suzukis. A little before my time, but to me the RM's and YZ's defined moto in the 70's and early 80's before the Honda dominance of the 80's.

imo not really, the 78 CR 250 was the top bike of that year, other than the shocks
were great....course i had one so could be biased.

Thanks guys. I really am fired up. I also had the 1978 RM250C2 that year, and the 79 125 and the 1980. Then, in 1981, I pulled the bonehead move of all time. The shop that was sponsoring me also carried Hondas, and the Suzys were late coming in, so I told the dealer, "Fuck it, I'll take two Hondas (the first year of the pro link..a 125 & a 250), rather than wait for the first year of the full floaters. You can probably guess how that turned out...The worst fuckin bikes I EVER owned. I would have rather raced my 1976 RM 100 with the down pipe.

But I am going to give this one some lovin and will be sure to post the before, during, and after pics.

Drmark-still have those parts? I can't run this thing stock, can I? I have never had a stock bike in my life! Even my TM100 had Boge shocks on it!!

And Wow123-I also loved the 78 CR250 and would love to have one of those in my garage.

I had a new 78 RM125 then a new 79 RM250. The 125 had a killer motor. I race a restored 79 RM250 and 77 and 78 YZ400's now.

In Winnipeg. The interest in vintage is starting to pick up some steam around here although not nearly what it is elsewhere in other parts of Canada and the US obviously. I'm restoring it to ride the sucker!
