Was that because he was looking over his shoulder, like always?

All the guys in front of him were not there last year except for Dungey.

Right answer!

And if mudflaps was there he would have been 7th.

Alessi and Barcia are not going to be content with 5th and 6th.

No. I think he expected a lapper to move out of his way and the lapper didn't. Alessi started to go wide and seemed to expect the rider in front of him to go wider but instead the lapper held a tighter line. Alessi's front wheel caught the rear tire of the lapper and he hit the dirt.

I thought it was odd he didn't holeshot. Anyone know where he started? 4th or 5th?

Mikey is a great rider but really he hasn't been the number one guy before and the class now is stupid stacked... I still wouldn't be surprised if he gets some podiums with the way he starts but he'll have to start well and the others, like 5 of em will have to have a bad one.

Agree with all but him getting podiums this year, really don't think so but all the best to him if he does!!

Ya... ah bad race for the others would be it... He's capable of going that fast but Mikey has some mental blocks or something I think...

I've seen him hammer the whoops but then other times he just backs out of it...

He ran with Dungey last year a few times, and in 09 he was great, but to do it all moto now, I think he's gotta get back to a better mind space...

He has had some fairly gnarly injuries tho...

He was running about 30mph faster than Huffman coming into a corner and Ryan turned into him and knocked him over. Other than that happening he would have had a 5-6 day and that is pretty respectable in that stacked field.

Maybe it's more like Alessi made a rookie like mistake, ran into to the back of Huffman and tipped over! At least that's what I saw. Here's a look at it.

Setting a boat anchor right can be tricky.

Dan I don't want video proof. As an Alessi fan I just want it to be known that his rise to the front was momentarily disrupted by a violent attack from old man Huffman. J/k

It was nice to see Ryan giving it a go and was impressed he made the field in his late 30's...good for him

I have never trusted Alessi videos since the debacle at Glen Helen was edited so badly that it appeared Mikey was standing on someone's bike trying to hit the killswitch

Upon review of the video, it appears he was doing alright up until that "incident". Maybe he should have kept a tighter line just in case the "senior citizen" didn't run wide. Too bad for Mikey.
On the upside, he did appear to be looking forward. Silly

I can't believe he expected Huffman to move over. Ryan didn't do any of that when he was on the track as I remember.

His bike did not look like it was handling very well, He should have been able to get around Huffman it looked like he could not get the bike to turn and just ran it the back of him.
