...and ended up with two. man what deals there are to be had out there if you break away from the flock just a bit. I have not spent much time on a two stroke in over 3 years...I am pretty excited. Both of these bikes are 04 models, have still got their original tires on them and are in nice shape.

i got a bunch of nice extras with the YZ- a nice FMF step stand, nearly new boots, some OK pants, jersey, gloves, chemicals, etc. With the Honda I got a pair of boots, chemicals, and a ramp. I have about $3500 in both of them

Congrats on "Voting with your wallet". You got two sweet ,easy to maintain, modern as they get, Japanese bikes for less than what one new 450cc 4 stroke will depreciate in just one year of ownership. It's almost like they were free!

The amount of value loss of one year with a new 450cc bike pays for two used bikes that will give him every bit as much fun.

yeah, that is the idea. I had several 02 Honda CR250's back when they came out and always loved the chassis, suspension, ergos, etc. This 04 is stock and has a pretty nice midrange hit, stronger than my 02 models I would say. If I can get a little more power out of it everywhere, it will be unstopable. The funny thing is, I hate the newer CRF chassis and ergos- they feel so horribly cramped to me- but the last 250 two stroke layout is great.

I have also had multiple 04 and 05 YZ250 models over the years too... I set out looking for another 05-up aluminum framed YZ but when I got a look at this bike....maybe 10 hrs. on it total, I decided steel frames rock

the best part is , I have already got enough leftover parts from my past two strokes to make riding these things very cheap for the forseeable future.

Wow man, it seems you scored on this purchase. Good luck with them. I sold my '05 KX250F and bought an '04 KX125 in December of '08 and in hindsight it was a great decision. I was marginally faster on the thumper but I have so much more fun on the 2 stroke. If you're not racing, isn't having fun what it's all about anyway?

I just picked up a clean, low hour '08 yz250 for $2700. It's a great stablemate for my '06 yz125, which I bought with less than 10 hours for $2100 less than a year ago.

Waita minute, how can all these guys buy bikes? You said the economy sucked so bad all people are worrying about is if they have a job?

Looks like plenty of folks can afford a trusty smoker. But what does real world stuff like that have to do with circular arguments? Wink
