cool stuff pro's do on the track...

we all have certain things that stick in our memories from times gone by. Kdubs transfers/bubbas scrubs etc

one thing that sticks in my mind (bare with me) is RC when he was on pro circuit, he was leading at southwick in 99 i believe. Anyway it was on the downhill into a lefthander then switched right, ricky used the breaking bumps to hop through the corner wide open. it still amazes me how these guys do the shit they do.

maybe not the most exotic thing but im all about how they get around corners.

Think it was 05 budds creek national. Track was running up big gulp. Rc was hitting the Berm at the bottom of the hill in 3rd who and grabbing 4th on the exit. You could see a portion of the berm moving he was hitting it so hard.

I think it was the 2012 Vegas SX, there was 1 flat corner and the TV camera was at eye level and to see the the riders, esp RV, go round that flat corner so fast was insane!

Also anything Bubba did on his kx125 amazed me.

Carmichael 05 mt morris....proved u don't need the bubba scrub...bubba scrubbed the finish line table...ricky launched it well over 100 feet to flat to make the pass.

The one move that 43 years later still stands out in my mind..1972, InterAm at Boise, Idaho. The course is going through a wide creek bottom. It is a longish, whooped out straight among the big cottonwoods. The course is lined with steel fence posts holding up snow fencing. Mid point in the straight is a curve and a small jump where the course leaves the bottom and starts to wind it's way up to the big sand hill.

Falta and a couple other CZ riders would straighten the curve cutting from outside to inside, hitting the jump in the apex of the curve with their handlebars over lapping the steel fence post while in the air. Woohoo

Could you imagine the bitching and moaning if the modern day guys had to race that track!

So many to list, I'd say bubba hitting the wall jump at Daytona immediately after he weeded his shit in I believe 2010? He rag dolled and was wobbly getting back on the bike, only to send the wall jump about 45 seconds later.

Oh yeah, that was so bad ass. His wheel was like millimeters above that thing. He would have gotten so worked if he clipped that thing.

I always thought the way Roger seemed to be in a perpetual wheelie. RV kinda does/did the same.

Things that pop out....

Tomac's high speed wheelie through the whoops at Daytona this year.

Stewart jumping that gatorback thing a few years ago at Daytona... right before he KO'd himself.

Anything Bradshaw did in 1989!!

I think its cool when they pull a tear off in the air like its second nature.

I like how often their feet are off the pegs. Look in jumps pics and whoop pics and all over. I'm always amazed how light they are on the pegs.

At Hangtown there is an uphill whoop/rhythm section. After working on the start line all day I always make it a point to make it up there after the last gate drop. I am always just floored at the commitment they make entering it. You can feel the ground shake when they pound through them. Blows me away every year. The baddest and knarliest rider through there do date for me is Bagget a few years ago on the 250. Huge balls through there! Here was the entry to it this year which brings up another thing Ruts! I don't know how they do it! They pinned it through here!

RC using the edge of the track (like a curb) to go completely wide open, layed over and standing up around the first right hander after washougal's finish. Ryan Huffman was also equally impressive around that corner. Then Pastrana catching a little air off the ski jump and landing in a nose wheelie and riding it all the way down. I couldn't even do that shit in a video game.

I was there that year! 2001 or so? Saw Pastrana through the whoops and Huffman railed that wall. Very cool.

The way gncc guys have pit stops down to a science is amazing. When Charlie Mullins was still on a yamaha, I saw his dad hand him a water bottle mid corner and it amazed me. The turn coming into pit row turned pavement past the apex. Mullins cracked the throttle and as the ass end stepped completely sideways, he took his left hand off and grabbed the bottle and put the straw in his mouth never shutting off the throttle. Pure talent
