Does the 2000 125 MX national championship and 2001 125 East championship not count?

Skill doesn't mean jack shit. Travis is the perennial champion of life and having fun.

He means less skill than riders today. If Travis had been grinding it out in the heat of Florida like RC was he could have been a premier class champion. I dont think hes any worse for it though.

Do championships count? In regards to becoming a champion?

Hodges can do the same thing along with many other dudes. Hardly a requisite for a championship.

Travis is , and always will be awesome. Skills on a bike very few others on earth could match. I think his biggest downfall was injuries. He had a lot of them , and he had some bad ones. I remember before he was 16 years old , some were calling him the 1 million dollar kid. Because he had over a million dollars worth of surgery before he even turned pro.

Oh yeah....plus he was a nut on a bike. So there's that.

Skills don't always translate to championship winning racecraft. Lots of examples of this in the sport over the past 50 years.

Sometimes it's better to slow down so you can go faster longer. I think we can all think of a few riders this advise would have greatly benefited.

That being said, I think Travis has done just fine for himself.

ive been using 199 in every username, email, nd jersey i could all my life so im at the very least a very committed half ass fan. he might overall be the most talent rider/driver ever across all platforms.
His problems in SX/MX is the fact he was trying to be good at EVERYTHING and didnt focus mainly on it... He took risks in freestyle events during the racing year and definately didnt slow down when he had time off at home. Injury injury injury etcetcetc

That being said, to what hes done and the peoples hes brought together for us to see live or on video is legendary to me. I wouldnt change a thing!
