Didn't Stanton pull off a victory wreck in 1988 or 1989 in SX? I looked on you tube and couldn't find it... but like big foot I know it exists!!!

I can't find the video, but back in '06/'07 time frame, Everts was winning one of the sand races and did a fist pump-to-massive-wad over a double just a few turns from the finish line. I think he was fine physically, but he had a hard time getting his bike fired back up, and Pichon was able to motor by and take the win.

I seem to remember Jeff Stanton having a crash celebrating a heat race win at Miami SX in 1989.

I couldn't find the video though. Dizzy

Even ignoring the crash, that racing was just sad all around.

The rubber piece overlapping the pivot point of the front brake got stuck between the lever and master cylinder. His bike fired right up but the front brake gripping was making it really hard to ride.

Yeah, that was a good one. Houston 2001 I believe and everybody was going nuts up in the stands about to witness a KTM win. Last lap celebration and he eats shit. Then we were all going nuts as the Husqvarna took the win. He was crying over it*, and that's why motocross will never be taken seriously.

*Sarcasm alert for those who don't get it.

That was the GP in South Africa.

My thoughts as I read the youtube comments, and your post:

There are certainly a lot of assholes in this sport.

Hardcross in Antwerp. Guy won and he raised his arm on the finish line jump but he got tangled in the finish line banner 10 metres high. He fell and broke a leg. I think you are referring to that crash.

Wow! She took her hand off the throttle lol. Probably raced with her turn signal on the whole time also.
I actually just watched the vid and that was I thought exactly.
I have never ever seen somebody taking his hand of the throttle to celebrate like this. Blink
She lost total control over the bike by doing that, you can see her rev it but she's to late to bring the front back up.

Fred Bolley 2000 Teutschenthal 250cc GP.

Double fist pump over the finish line and then the front end tucked in some loose dirt and sent him sprawling. Won the title that yr though. Had a decent look on youtube but couldn't find it.

I searched to the end of the internet looking for that video a while back. I forget exactly where he was, but I know he looped out in a pretty spectacular fashion.

I think why this one stuck in my head so much isn't because of what happened, but because of who it happened to. Stanton in my eyes was always kind of an intense, and serious guy, not much for words which could be viewed as very confident. For someone with that personality to wad it celebrating had to have been humiliating Laughing
