Hey,

So I'm looking into buying a used bike to build for some 6/12/24hr races and beat up on. I'm not looking to spend a ton, but I want to make sure it'll last and it's done right. My question is what bike size/cc would you suggest and way for these types of races? My initial thought is a 250 2 stroke or 4 stroke, but probably leaning more towards a 250 2 stroke due to rebuild cost.

I'd also say a YZ 250.

Or if you want to go 4 stroke, a Honda 450x their is a TON of info out there about how to make them run a long time.

XR400. Fill it with gas and change the oil once a year

I just picked up an 03 KX250 to build for a 24hour race. I already had an oversized tank, and several other pieces for it. The only thing left I really plan to do is build a linkage skid plate out of hmw and buy an 18” rear wheel.

Honda CRF450X. I have one. I have done a shit load of 24hr, 6 hour, desert, and GP races with it. Can't kill this bike, I have tried!!! A bit big and heavy for some but reliable as anything. Mine has all the upgrades for stator, HID lighting, big tank, all the guards/braces, steering stabilizer sub mounted, has R cam/exhaust, ect. She's a big girl for a bike but it rips and won't leave ya sitting on the side of the course!!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

For the Glen Helen races? YZ250 with a big tank. That single track gets real tight and miserable around 2am
