I have been stuck under a CR450 with the header burning my pants, jersey and belt.
That isn't why I began wearing them in 1967 when they had little leather buckles instead of velcro.

I always wear mine. It gives me some lower back support, keeps stuff from juggling around my mid section, and gives me that one extra layer of protection just in case. I forgot to pack it one day and did not feel right without it.

For the record, I also wear a helmet, Leatte, elbow guards, chest protector, knee braces, knee sox, riding shorts, boots, gloves and goggles. Next I am trying to figure out how to get an entire layer of bubble wrap under my pants and jersey without looking too gay.

When I go down, I want to bounce like a rover landing on the surface of Mars, roll to a stop, and have all my parts working underneith the inflatable cacoon.

Yes i wear one and Im not fat either. Im 40 now and have been wearing one since I started raceing at 15. It supports my lower back and if I dont wear it my back will hurt worse then it already does.

I havent gone through too many of them either, a couple of GoldBelts in the eighties, very early nineties when I was raceing a lot and just recently I bought a kidney belt from sixsixone which is VERY comfy. The trick to getting a comfy kidney belt is to avoid ones with lots of plastic and ones that are too tall. The narrower the better. The taller they are, the more they will dig into your sides, same with ones made with lots of plastic.

Just moving into the Leatt this year myself, at age 52 I don't seem to bounce as well as I used to. Be flipping thru the vitrual trainer stuff hunting for some tips. Gotta adapt the workouts to what I can do in the truck. Piss poor economy has me driving 5 days a week. Walk-run when I can, but still got fat this winter.
Have always wore a kidney belt, seems like I'm not so sore after a hard ride. Like the Answer stuff.

I wear one. I'm not fat, and I have good abs. I find that my back is less sore during and after riding if I wear a kidney belt than if I don't.

If you don't wear one your not riding hard. Medical fact. If you don't believe me, go tuck yourself

I still wear one, but I don't rock it outside my jersey like we did in the old days. Not sure if it actually has any benifits, but I feel naked without it.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for posting this!

My lower back muscles have been having spasm's the last couple rides. I did not even think about pulling the gold belt in the bottom of my battle bag on for lower back support. I know stupid me!

I wear my kidney belt when I ride, if I dont I feel like I have to pee every 5 minutes. Plus it keeps my kidneys from bouncing all over the place, less lower back pains after a ride, many mistake that pain to be back mucles, but its your kidneys taking a beating

I run a kidney belt. It helps lessen the lower back pain after moto-ing.
