You could check the Holiday Inn in Collinsville. That's where many of the riders stay.

Yep. It's about 5 minutes (driving) from the stadium. Much easier than staying on the MO side (unless you stay right downtown). I know many of the semis park there and RC used to stay there.

Plus, you can stop by Mr. Flynt's place on the way back to the room.

I use to stay at the Marriot or Hilton downtown. It overlooked the Bush Stadium and was a short walk to the race. Rates were very reasonable also.

Collinsville would be my best bet. It's right next to a Denny's that K-Dub frequents after the race, at least he did in 07, he got moons over my hammy.

More like 20 minutes with no traffic
I drive that route every day and I happened to time it this morning. It is right at about 8 minutes, probably 10 if you count the time getting from the hotel to the Interstate. Having said that it's not actually the Holliday Inn any more.

I have actually noticed the sign was changed about a year ago to "Hotel Collinsville" but I thought it was still owned by Holliday Inn. I don't know if the race teams will be staying there this year but I am certain the parking lot was full of race semis last year (and many years before it) so they probably will this year again.

Did you try the Lumiere Casino?? It's probably booked, but if not the rates are really good and its about a 2 minute walk to the dome.

Last I checked the Millenium had some rooms left. Been a couple weeks though...

the lumiere casino is booked. millenium still has rooms but for $170 a night. im gonna check into that collinsville hotel now that i have the site. but scored some tickets to the race, so i might be able to foot the extra now for the millenium. just seems really high to me. thanks for the input everyone.

Yeah, the Limiere might have been the premo place. Here is a list of several other Hotels in that same area as the Hotel Collinsville:

If you click on the link then click on the map picture you'll get a list of the hotels/motels on the left with pictures, phone numbers, etc.

Also a warning on the Hotel Collinsville. Looks like there is a lot of construction going on with it at the moment. It's not closed down but it might be worth noting. The Drury would probably be a very nice one to stay at but I'm guessing it might be a little more expensive. There is also a Drury right across the street from the Dome but I'm guessing that one would be full.

thanks void main for taking the time to do that.
the only one by the stadium thats not full is the mellinium.
i was hoping someone would have said they over booked some rooms and had extras. but i think im dreaming. haha

just a word of advice, if some of your friends toke it up, be careful in collinsville. If you stay in STL it's a minor offense with a small ticket, but over the IL border it's a huge ass fine. One of my dumbass (now ex) friends got slapped with $750 plus comm. service for having a bowl w/ resin.

Not to mention all those Collinsville hotels I've been mentioning are in the same complex as the IL state trooper post. Smile You could probably throw a rock from the Hotel Collinsville and bust windows out of the place. Smile

Cool beans! So you'll be right across the street from the dome.

first time in STL? Don't go east. E-STL is bad, very bad. Bad as in, if you value your life, do not go there.

When I went in 05 the only parking we could find involved us walking through a dark alley to get to the dome, but I don't think it's bad at all by the dome. I don't go to STL all that often, but in 07 we got parking right next to the dome and I don't remember feeling at all worried about being shanked.

Heh heh, if he wants to hit any of the "night clubs" he's going to have to go east. The downtown area isn't bad at all. I actually worked on the 19th floor of the One City Centre building for 5 years which is a block south of the dome and my parking pass was actually for the dome parking garage. I've had to drive through East St Louis for the last 15 years to get to work and I have yet to find a single bullet hole in my vehicle. A graze or two maybe but no holes. Smile
