He will probably do really good outdoors on the 450. The field will be thin as always because of injuries or riders not participating in the series, top 5 is not at all a long shot for him.

I believe he will do well.. He gets to train with the top tier of speed in the 450 class already. I believe he also said he rides the 450 a lot during the week with those guys.

Plus he will have to race half as many SX races as the other 450 guys since he's doing 250SX again next year so he should be a little less beat up going into the season.

My theory is as follows. Most good 250 riders will initially go faster on a 450 because they'll ride them like a 250, very aggressively. However, that changes very quickly the first time all the power and weight comes back to bite them and they'll back it down. Then the phrase "respect the bike" begins to sink in.
