Hey everyone I'm located in up in bc Canada and I'm currently looking for a used yz250, the prices have been super high lately there are guys with 13s asking 7000 guys with 06s asking 5000, what's up with the high prices? Bluebook on a 2017 is like 3500 and guys ask 6600? Is it just the Canadian bike market or is it like this everywhere?
But, I'm sure Yamaha is more concerned with the segment of dirt bikes fans that buy all of the 2 stokes Yamaha produces in a year. To Yamaha, the message they hear has to be - Don't change them - we'll buy all you make, just the way they are.
I've lusted after a KTM or Husky enduro/off road bike for most of my life. But with no dealers very close to me & not that many available used, just could never pull the trigger.
Upsides to making the same bike forever is that they aren't hard to find and parts are relatively cheap and availability is not a problem.
Downsides to a continually evolving model is fast obsolescence and parts availability. Doesn't it alway suck when you find that the part you need was used 1 model year only and because of this the price is kind of obscene?
Anyway, I was able to pull the trigger on the 1st YZ250X I found for sale locally at a reasonable price.
The fact that my bike is basically a 2006 model doesn't hold me back in the least.
I bet 5k can buy a near new YZ if a guy looks around. The days of finding a good one for 2k are long gone.
With that said, in another 2 or 3 months when the reality of Corvid-19 hits prices may come down some, but thats to be seen.
