Probably this huge air, the back story is that it was my return race to my hometown track Hollister Hills, where I got hurt in 1985. I returned to race my Pilot there in the mid 90's and dominated!

You might remember this Fox "Dream On" poster with Robbie Renyard, same track. That bottom turn in the photo, I am hitting it in my Pilot in this pic:

Loved Hollister in the late 90’s, but man we had some bad luck with injuries at that track.

This will always be my favorite pic. I had been riding with my son since he was 3 1/2 on a JR50. I always had to slow down & wait for him right up thru 85's.
This was the first day he rode the 125, and I couldn't keep up. It just clicked for him when he got the big bike. It sucked, but I was so damn proud of him.
We're both on 250 smokers 12 years later. I only see him until the 1st turn, and again when he laps me.

And I'm still really proud of him.

Probably this one. This is the first time hitting this 100’ triple at a private track that is unfortunately now a cow pasture. It wouldn’t have been so intimidating, but after going numerous times I never saw anyone hit it. So nobody to tow me in or judge my speed properly. One day I had enough of doubling it and just pinned it. I got it right on the money. Miss this place as it was only a half hour away.

And I miss that yellow YZ250.

We saw that. My son was in 450 B which was 2 motos after this. 250 A was the next moto after that. A lot of the A and B riders were standing next to the gate when that happened and they LOVED it. Then your son came by them for the restart and they were cheering him on! Then he holeshot the restart!!! EPIC. Ryder D, Hymas, Leblanc etc, were so pumped!!!

Not sure this is the best, but pretty good crash anyway. This was actually featured in the MTV's Ridiculousness. Skip to 1.43.

Actually this might be even better (at least harder) crash. Skip to 0.35.

I wanted a Pilot SO bad. I remember a build article in Dirtwheels of a pilot that was built for Baja maybe? It was a little wider and had an extra 200cc’s I think. Big desert lights. Never got to drive one, but I did get to watch a tuned up guy ride a mx track on one and he was SENDING it until he flipped a dozen times. Those things ripped.

Mine is VERY far from stock, at the time it was the trickest Pilot on the planet. We removed the entire electrical system including the CDI, stator, flywheel etc, the wiring harness was something like 50+ pounds! and replaced it with a MotoPlat ignition. The stock rev limiter kicked in at something like 7000RPM, mine revved to like 8750+.We shaved something like 10+ pounds of rotating weight off the crankshaft, had the crank trued and balanced by Falicon, We used an electrical waterpump out of a Mercedes (just like the ones we have seen posted lately on the factory bikes) I got a good laugh seeing those, we did this back in 1991-92. Before we started I had to have someone carry the engine from my workbench to my van to take it to CW, when we were finished, I was able to do it myself. Thats how much weight we shaved.

I wish I had more pictures, I do have some ill have to scan someday. I put around $16k into this machine. Had a ton of help for a local engine builder CW Racing Engines, this was our pet project. Also could not of done it without the help of Mike Daas at Fox Shox, and my mechanic Ray Baskett.

As you can tell, I am pretty proud of this accomplishment. Cool

You could tell it was the 90's, look at this hair! lol

Look how clean, I was so anal about maintenance, every single nut, bolt and zip tie had to be perfect!

Listen how crisp this bigbore is:
