If you had the time/money to seek out and rebuild a replica bike, what would it be?

McGrath's 93 CR250?
RC's Team Green PJ1 KX80?
Ryno's #105 KTM125?

What would you re-create?

1985 Honda CR250 Works Bike (like Bailey's). Not sure time and money would suffice though. Access to blueprints might be the bigger issue.

I've built a few replica's and I've restored or just freshened up a few of the "real deals". I'm starting to like those real deal bikes more and more.Smile

How about taking a true to life works bike and building a replica out of it? Start with a original works bike and make a few minor changes (absolutely nothing permanent) and only repaint a few things that really needed it. Other than that, clean everything in it's unrestored state and let it rip.

The before!

Ohh that's a tough one. In order of preference I would have to go with:

1999-2002 Pro Circuit KX 125

1997 or 1998 Pro Circuit KX 125

And then if I couldn't find any KX125's I could settle for a 1996 CR 250 (But I feel that there are enough of these already done.)

WOW. Does it really get any better than that? Those Suzuki's are some of the best looking bikes out there. Would love to take that RM250 for a spin.

RC's Factory RM250 would definitely be my bike of choice as well.

Great stuff; While I love the RC4 'zook, I wouldn't want to replica it as Suzuki sold the 'RC Edition'. Digging RC's #70 though. Prime for replication.

Spent ten plus years collecting parts, building, painting, mooching machine shop favors.....to build what were two of my all time favorites. Just so happened to be the all time favorites of someone else as well. Smile

Pat Richter and Cliff White with the Richter replica

Cliff White, Steve Wise and Steve Simons with the Wise replica

And I'd want two sets of side panels and front number plate....one with #1 and the other with #104.

This actually wouldn't be too tough to do. Take a '76 or '77 RM370, bolt on a replica swingarm (there were a few well made copies available back then) and mount up a set of the semi-works Kayaba forks that were sold to the public and you'd be very close. The front hub would be a challenge. Any ideas on that? Hmmmmmm

^^^ I agree, probably the trickest bike to ever live IMO. I know i'm not as old school as some of the others but I dreamed of this bike as a kid and that was waaaay before i understood what it took to build it. This bike has so many 1 off parts on it that its a work of art IMO. the design of the plastic/aluminium could pass as a current bike....way ahead of its time.

Building that would just take money. The brass balls it would take to ride it, however.....
