Last I had heard, he was somewhere up in the Northeast and had his own shop. But that was 10+ years ago.

Can you imagine being a rider on another team, sitting in staging looking at the Honda boys and their bikes back then? It would take a lot of mental strength to believe you even had a chance. So damn trick!!

Raced against him this summer at Winchester NH. ... goes pretty good 👍

Villopto's 2007 250f, the bike that left the biggest imprint to my childhood.

Damien,

That bike was for sale about 2 years ago for $23k. It has a perimeter frame.

I believe those forks were referred to as "bell bottom" forks. "Tree trunk" is a term reserved for folks with very large ankles.

Yes, but look at the 2nd gen RC250M above and you see a prototype 3rd gen frame.

And then on the 2003 and 2004 RC250M pictured below, we have a 3rd gen RC250M with a 4th gen frame that never made it to production. HRC had this this 250cc engine making 58 hp! This is Katsuya's bike and it looks like he switched back from the 51mm Showa works fork the riders were running in 2000 and 2001 to the 49mm Showa works fork...

The drilled holes on the top of # plates is cool, never saw that on another cr, but my 04 cr151. I heard suspension shops say, the best chassis ever is the 04 cr125. You can install a 500 engine and it’s still perfect. I remember sitting on a new 05 cr250, you instantly feel like your on works bike. Such a awesome feeling bike. I think bikes went backwards since then.

how could anyone want a modern era 4 stroke? There's zero mystery to them. Yawn.
Yes there is. Trying to get phone service to reprogram or figure out how to program your 4-st. Because the rear tire spun on 3 knobby,s. Built in excuses when you purchase a 4-st. My program was off, I chose the wrong program. I can,t ride my bike in the aggressive program. Haha so Lame

I saw that. It also has conventional forks as well. Definitely not your typical RC 250. The forward kick RC was another one that stood out to me as well. I think that was in 95 if I remember right.

The forward kickstart was the automatic transmission and never for sale though.

They had this bike on display at the 125 dream race in '19 at washougal. It was sad seeing all the cool magnesium parts getting that white oxidation on them.

i was a full on Honda only guy back then but I have always loved this shit of Emig on his KX250. He did an interview and explained what they did to it to make it work so well and it was an interesting read.

Since a real “works” bike would have parts that are impossible to replace, I’d go with artistic rather than something to actually ride.

That really narrows it down to the RC125M Twin, or the RC250, both with the Ribi-style front ends........

Do you happen to know who did the interview? I’d love to read up on that 👍
