Yes and No. It gets more difficult to pick when so many of them are out. People end up picking the same guys thus, harder to make separation.

Makes it easier to score more points. Hardly anybody picks the top guys. People always pick the underdogs with the big handicaps to get max points. With the better riders out its easier for said high handicapper to make mains.

Not at all, how the points work given the option, those riders would generally never get picked. However in the Pulp league (for example) you are required to pick one All-star, there are 8 in each class, and all stars are worth the points in which the finish, nothing else.

Every other rider that is not one of those Eight, are worth double points should they finish in the top 10 AFTER the handicap is applied. So a rider like Adam Enticknap was worth more points than Janson Anderson yesterday. With out the all star rule, I would never pick any of the top riders, the big points are non-all stars.

With Adam Enticknap as our example, he finished 20th, he had a 13 handicap giving his fantasy finish a 7th place, double the points and he rewarded 32 points. Jason Anderson only rewarded 26 with his win as all stars do not get double points.

It depends on what game we're talking. For motocrossfantasy.com, pulpmxfantasy and to a lesser extent MotoDual, it is actually easier / a bit riskier - with some top riders not racing, the rest of the field effectively moves up a spot or two, making the riders who get double points (and with big handicaps) more tempting.

For rmfantasysx (where you have to guess the top 5 plus one random position....last week was 12th), I think it makes it a bit harder because the top 5 is less certain (than it would be if it were Tomac, Roczen, Musquin, Anderson etc). Makes for more variation in the picks I'd imagine

I'm 760ish overall in Rocky mountain... shoutout to Justin Brayton and Jason Anderson for keeping me afloat!

Definitely murkys the waters for the Rocky Mtn Fantasy league, where all you do is pick the Top 5 each week (plus a "wild card", which is a random position each week, like 7th or 12th etc). But for the PulpMX league, nah.
