Where's Brabec? Sad Hope its just a scoring issue
He is there in 4th... he missed a bunch of waypoints today, and a couple yesterday, not sure if he has GPS issues, no penalties yesterday as far as i can see.

most of the time, the problem is that the tracking device is not working. no problem at all. happens to a lot of riders all the time

barragan currently in 3rd (wp6). waiting for short to come trough at wp5 he was in 6th position but I think he might have lost a couple of spots.
edit: 20th at wp6 and bit silly of me guessing he has lost spots since they started all together today.

Such a bummer for Sunderland. Hopefully Price can keep it on two wheels! Shorty is getting better and better as it goes on!

I forgot to mention- there’s another American racing Dakar this year: Shane Esposito. He’s a long-time Baja and desert racer. I think he’s #120 in the production class. It’s his first Dakar, I think.
Espo is the man, hope he can have a great first go of it!

Top American contender Bryce Menzies catapulted at what looked like well over 100 mph taking him out of the event, too bad, he was considered to be a top runner. Keeping an eye on quite a few of the U.S. riders, Mark Samuels, Shane Esposito, Ricky Brabec

What a bummer that Menzies is out. Brabec is riding awesome....but wonder what happened. Shorty is ahead of him now.

Stupid question but I’m new to Dakar. What’s with the big trucks? How and why did they start racing those? Doesn’t seem to be the best race machine even as incredible as they are

You were probably just looking at overall results for that stage. Brabec is still in the top 10 overall after stage 5. Short is in 23rd. Americans Shane Esposito and Mark Samuels are 31st and 32nd. Final results aren't in for the day but the Brit in the video I posted earlier is around 50th, currently 3rd in his class (Malle Moto).

Those were originally support trucks for the motorcycle and car racers. When the race went through Africa, That’s how teams transported all their spare parts and supplies and gear.

He needs to be less of a dumbass. He freely admitted that he ignored the double caution in the notes that his co-driver read and hit the lip pinned.

Racers aren't allowed any outside/spectator help on the course. As a work around to the rule, teams started entering support trucks full of tools/parts/mechanics in the race to chase their main race vehicle should they need assistance on the course. That spun off into a legitimate big truck race class.

Yea, Bryce unfortunately crashed out at the beginning of the second day. However, pretend you don't know that and watch our series with him!

Even quite a sad turn events for us as the film team. It was an insane adventure to that point - and even we left early as a result - but I truly think Bryce and Pete were poised to do quite well. Hopefully they give it another shot next year. With even more time in the car and experience doing other races, 2019 could be there chance to make it happen.

Short just got 6th place in stage 10. This stage really shook up the bike class. I think there was some difficult navigation in the last part
