“The prototype steering support system uses a torque sensor, magnet technology and an actuator that result in steering damper benefits at high speed and steering assist input at low speed.”

This is the 3rd post on this, I'm guessing this one gets clipped as well? Why are these getting deleted?

Since it's already on the Canadian web page that the link goes to...wouldn't seem to be any kind of embargo still applying?

An "advancement" that makes the bike more expensive to purchase and maintain, while adding little value. This won't make it into production, at least for dirt bikes.

I haven't paid much attention, do Honda's still come w a steering damper?

I can’t wait until they have blind spot monitoring, parking sensors and power adjustable foot pegs, all controlled from a 13.5” infotainment screen mounted on the bars.

For 95% of riders, I agree.
But those who can pin it 6th gear WFO across the desert floor, it could be helpful.

Question.
Are any dakar rally raid racers using one ??

I believe all of them are using Scotts.

Friday is April Fool's Day. Pretty sure the first comment alluding to this being embargoed until Friday was implying this has to be an April Fool's joke.

It could be uneeded -- Certainly on bikes which already have been designed around compromising steering stability against turning. But what if the goal of this type of dynamic control is as the piece that makes a more radical geometry or chassis balance workable?

Water cooling in of itself didn't add any power to bikes, and it added significant weight and complexity. But it allowed a narrower tuning range, and that provided huge jumps in performance through other more fundamental changes of combustion geometry and fuel ratio.

Can’t see it making that big of a difference, just adds to the cost.

More dumb unneeded tech on our dirt bikes.... Raising price is the only sure outcome....just as useless as electric start on MX bikes..... dumb folks ....

People buy steering dampers and adjustable bar mounts now to help to control these beasts. So what if like others said you could have Suzuki turning with Yamaha stability using these. It will also take out a ton of kickback you get in the bars which I would think would allow you to ride fast longer,

Maybe not but let’s not write it off before seeing how it all works.

I don’t think power steering would do that. Cornering and stability is the give and take of the geometry of the frame. It’s about rake and trail, not the weight of steering. I could see it for desert racing maybe helping but not motocross.

So you think a cable clutch is more reliable than hydraulic?

This technology came out just a couple years ago on snowmobiles. ( Mostly, the "Heavier" 4 stroke snowmobiles are using it, as the added weight makes it difficult to steer over moguls and twisty's) Yamaha is all about 4 strokes on snowmobiles, so they had to add this feature. It's funny, in any comparo of sleds in a given class, they'll give the weight of the 2 stroke Arctic Cat, Polaris, and Ski Doo, but never the 4 stroke Yamaha. Never. Always say's, "Not Available"

why ya think power steering is that strange to work on.
Yamaha was already working on 2 wheel drive too years and years ago with bikes at Dakar rally.
so i wouldn't say a 4/1 joke straight

Been longer than a couple years. And Ski Doo 4 strokes seem to do OK without it.

At least someone understands how ridiculous this is. I didn't know a dirtbike was hard to steer...pretty sure there's almost zero effort needed to turn your bars.
