This brings up a good thought.. Our typical manufacturers are specialists when it comes to dirtbikes but not really when it comes to electric motors and battteries. Why wouldnt they just sub the entire electric motor/battery part out to someone who specializes in that?
Because this development is important for them beyond dirtbikes.

I'd buy a Yamaha e bike to replace my yz250f. Power equivalent to a 250f with a run time of 1.5 - 2 hrs via replaceable battery system and cost near the same as a current bike. Sign me up and take my money!

Well Yamaha makes E-bike motor and have been for a while.. since 1993 actually..

Suzuki bought the last Alta that my dealer had and said they were putting it on a boat to Japan.
