There's only one choice, 2 stroke. Lighter, cheaper, better sound, and most importantly-more fun.
I sold my KTM 350 after my whole life on 4 strokes for a YZ250 and haven't looked back.
That's why we ride right? To have fun.
I thought it was cool. I like when Ping does these. I liked the YZ250F vs modded YZ125 one that he did a year or so ago. The outcome is pretty much what I expected. Ping, being a seasoned, skilled 2 stroke guy can really make the 2stroke work and can make it work better for him. Shawn, like most of the rest of us, are likely going to be better (or at least more consistent) on the 250F. I wish I could ride 250 2strokes better, but for where I am at now in life (a mediocre vet rider) I have the YZ125 for fun / 2stroke practice and the YZ250F for when I am trying to race or go fast.

I do a lot of trail riding in addition to moto, and my 250 two-stroke kinda sucks on the tight trails. A 250F seems like it would be more versatile in my case. I'm hoping to have one of each at some point.
I look forward to the day I have a 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and electric sitting in my garage. At this stage of my life these things are just toys and I enjoy them all.

Had both and I far prefer the 2 stroke off-road. Slap a flywheel weight on if it’s an mx model and call er good
Honda wouldn't pull out. They probably would not have done so twenty years ago, when they threatened to do that. The fact that they still race motocross at all is proof they find it necessary to their marketing strategy.

See, I look forward to the day when everyone recognizes that heroin, communism, and 4-strokes are bad for you, and we enter into a new era of global harmony and prosperity. But then again, I'm an optimist.
It has been 20 years since the yz250f came out. They have advanced so much that the rule needs to be equal displacement or less. Would love to see some smokers outr there with a chance.

Thanks!
Just wish he could ride the 250 2t in the 250 class.
The 2 stroke 250 fires twice as often. It should be considered a 500 and ineligible for either class.🧐
Hopefully he makes a YouTube series about it like he did several years back when he raced the nationals on a 125.
