Refurbished my 06 YZ250 and bit the bullet to update one thing that's ALWAYS bugged me...since radiator shrouds don't cover the tank, graphics will not stay on the tank and also gives bike a dated look . Carbon fiber tank along with 4 stroke shrouds fixed that! Few other updates...
- 9 oz FW weight (so far, fav motor update)
- DEP pipe and PC silencer
- Vforce V3 reed cage (can't tell any difference)
- Stiffer clutch springs
- ASV levers
- Tusk wheel set (holding up great, haven't needed to tighten spokes after half dozen rides)
- Larger brake rotors
- One more tooth on rear sprocket (agree with MXA, like that additional tooth!)

The Shop
Since I've been happy with this bike and not splurged for a new one in awhile, figured I'd put a few bucks in this one. Actually, guess I've spent enough on vintage and post vintage stuff the last few years to have bought a new modern bike by now. But hey, they're all fun!
Nice job on the mods. Bike looks great!!!
No idea if Vforce made any difference since I went from worn out stock bike to fully built. I do know FWW is pretty effective. 2008 CRF450 front brakes, Stainless steel lines, Honda pads, and 270mm front rotor made a massive difference as well.
Bike looks great! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Edit: look, there’s three more!
Pit Row
Oh well, apples and oranges...
Had something interesting happen when I got the bike together after doing a top end, new clutch plates/clutch springs, pipe and new engine side covers. Went to fire it up for it's first ride and the kickstarter was locked up, couldn't push start it either...would just lock up the rear wheel. Any guesses on what the issue was?
I had the heavier flywheel on with the stock plastic cover and it was working fine and when I put the metal one on it seemed to fit up fine. But...just tightening the bolts up pulled it down hard enough on the FFW to lock it up. At first I thought I had messed something up when I had the clutch apart or put in the new piston. Before going too deep with that, figured I'd better double check the ignition cover...whew!
