Refurbished my 06 YZ250 and bit the bullet to update one thing that's ALWAYS bugged me...since radiator shrouds don't cover the tank, graphics will not stay on the tank and also gives bike a dated look . Carbon fiber tank along with 4 stroke shrouds fixed that! Few other updates...

- 9 oz FW weight (so far, fav motor update)
- DEP pipe and PC silencer
- Vforce V3 reed cage (can't tell any difference)
- Stiffer clutch springs
- ASV levers
- Tusk wheel set (holding up great, haven't needed to tighten spokes after half dozen rides)
- Larger brake rotors
- One more tooth on rear sprocket (agree with MXA, like that additional tooth!)

Looks cool man. Surprised you couldn't tell the difference with the V-force. Switching between it and the Boyesen on my KTM300 was a huge difference in either response or over-rev... Definitely running right?

I had the same pipe and silencer and flywheel weight. I also had the engine ported. Definitely one of the best bikes I have ever owned.

If you can find one, throw the 4 stroke swing arm on it. I'm not sure which years are a simple bolt-on but I've heard rave reviews about this mod.

Seems folks either notice a difference with the Vforce or like me, don't notice much of anything. I've ridden the same bike for enough years, you'd think I'd notice something...even if it were a placebo effect Smile Maybe, I'm not twisting it hard enough?

Since I've been happy with this bike and not splurged for a new one in awhile, figured I'd put a few bucks in this one. Actually, guess I've spent enough on vintage and post vintage stuff the last few years to have bought a new modern bike by now. But hey, they're all fun!

Yes, I've heard that same feedback from some guys who've done that. I've not actually ridden one though.

It would be great if Yamaha would take the hint and make some of the changes themselves.

Nice job on the mods. Bike looks great!!!

Pretty easy to make these bikes from stock so-so to great. I took a stock beat up 2006 and went full TMR 295cc. Now being built by Tom Morgan for 315cc stroker, and suspension done by Enzo.

No idea if Vforce made any difference since I went from worn out stock bike to fully built. I do know FWW is pretty effective. 2008 CRF450 front brakes, Stainless steel lines, Honda pads, and 270mm front rotor made a massive difference as well.

It's pretty easy to rack up thumb downs when you state the truth, joke around, or ride a bike that isn't orange. Some people can't handle the truth, take a joke, or accept another because of bike color. It's ok to bitch about black rims tho!

Looks good! Looks like a Vdlaar kit, they used to be the shit back before Yamaha launched their own "restyle"-kit.

I’m angered by the lack of a proper bike stand and can’t see past that. ?

Nice I like that, is the tank from Europe? Awesome that it also accepts the stock 4 stroke shrouds. Mine is from a guy in Italy, came with the shrouds for a bit under 500 hundred.

Absolutely beautiful my friend! Frame and subframe look brand new. Have you thought about the 4-Stroke swingarm swap?

Highly recommended, I believe 09 450 will bolt on since it is prior to the new style motor, can’t confirm for sure but I have been told by someone who used that year. Don’t listen to MXA who believe the newer ones are bolt ones as well, they absolutely are not and had they even begun to actually do the mod themselves they would have figured that out real quick. Don’t make my mistake and cost yourself a bunch of money and timeSmile

Can someone figure this out? Smile

Had something interesting happen when I got the bike together after doing a top end, new clutch plates/clutch springs, pipe and new engine side covers. Went to fire it up for it's first ride and the kickstarter was locked up, couldn't push start it either...would just lock up the rear wheel. Any guesses on what the issue was?

Really interested in how the 315 kit works out, can you post your ride review when ready? Thanks!

FWW stuck on ignition cover?

LoL...that was too easy for you...nice diagnosis!

I had the heavier flywheel on with the stock plastic cover and it was working fine and when I put the metal one on it seemed to fit up fine. But...just tightening the bolts up pulled it down hard enough on the FFW to lock it up. At first I thought I had messed something up when I had the clutch apart or put in the new piston. Before going too deep with that, figured I'd better double check the ignition cover...whew!

I found a deal on a set of talon hubs/DID wheels off a 250F, so figured I might as well throw the 4-stroke swingarm on as I would have had to mod anyhow to use the wheels. Then purchased the bracket to relocate the front brake caliper so I could use the oversized front rotor also
