Yeah I was one of those guys. This lever gives me painful flashbacks!

A total bulldozer.. Watch Ferry muscle it around a supercross track 2001. Although if it's cheap.... there's a price for everything.

My riding buddy from work still rides one. He mostly a trail rider, got him up at the track with it one day though and tried it out myself. Surprised how decent it was, really didnt want to turn inside though, so much that it was weird.

These bikes feel like they're from another century.
Oh, wait... They almost are.

Oh, they are from another millennium. Just like the riders that love 'em. :D

Don't forget to pull the decompression lever and hot start when starting. And oil goes in the frame

Had a couple YZ 400s 426s back in the day, every single one was hard to start, not easy to steer, heavy, and not reliable. I wouldn't trust trail riding it any further then I would want to push it. 02-03 CRF450s can be had these days under $2000 in good shape

I was fresh back to moto after a 5 year layoff and bought my buds 2001 426. My first 4stk and I rode the piss out of it. Setup the suspension for my lurch sized stature (6'3" 240lbs) and away I went. The clutch broke the judder plate a couple times. Easy fix. Motor was reliable as a brick. Starting, just had to do the drill. It was faster than a new stock 2002 CRF450. But man, launching that 250lb beast plus my 240lbs, that 1/4 ton combo was like a scud missle coming in hot.

Back in the day, a 520 SX was a way better bike, imo...
And you could fit it with the EXC electric start.
