No-one at KTM wanted to confirm it last week, but the revelation camer with the light of dawn on Friday at Fermo as KTM rolled out a brace of SX125 TWO-STROKES for Kenny Roczen to race this weekend ! And MX1 world champion Toni Cairoli is due to race an SX250 !

Whilst checking his mails the 17 year old German took time out to answer a couple of questions. First "Why ?". The simple answer: "Because I wanted to !" Dad Heiko Klepka quickly added: "We already talked with KTM about racing the two-stroke before we signed the contract."

The last time the MX2 world champion raced a two-stroke was back in 2007 when he won the 85cc world junior title, and no stroker has finished in the top ten of an MX2 GP since 2006, so what sort of result does Ken expect ?

"The same as usual; the main reason a two-stroke didn't make a result is because the riders who have raced them were not fast enough."

And to complete what could be a truly sensational promotion drive for the strokers KTM have a brace of SX250 in the Sprinter for Toni Cairoli to race in the MX1 class !

"Because I wanted to"??? Holy shit, where did that come from? According to Guy B, DC, Matthes, none of the pros or the teams on this side of the pond care anything about the 2 strokes. What are they putting in the water in Europe?

AWESOME NEWS!!

Damn, it's a pitty that I don't have the time to drive down to Italy to witness it live!

But luckily we have that MX-LIFE stuff to watch it live, more or less comercial free and uninterrupted all weekend long.
As I said in the other thread, i think that at least a top 5 result is possible. Maybe even a win, how cool would that be?
Cant wait!

If I were in the market for a new bike, KTM would get my money!

What's all this crazy talk?

According to the "in the know" people in here, top level Pro's and OEM's have NO interest in racing a 2 stroke.

And for sure when they have to race with half the displacement. Angry

Where are all the guys that usually say 2 strokes suck and nobody really fast wants to ride them? Seems to be from what I read there was that Roczen "Wants" to ride the 125.......pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

Bummer about TC's Mum, be good to see him on the 250 Sunday but understandable if he decides not to race.

don't think cairoli is even in the mood to show up at the race......but it could be a good thing for him to go on the 250sx and have a bit of fun with his crowd to celebrate his title.......could help a bit to bounce back from it.......

Sure, hasn't happened yet and if so, maybe PR stunt from KTM? But I feel money is a bit more important in the US...

KTM is going to own this sport in a matter of a couple years. They already own the woods. Now they're making a huge push everywhere.

this is so true. go to an off road race anywhere in the southeast, at any level and there is a shitload of KTM's racing and on the podium.

So if Roczen wins, I guess the whole cc for cc argument is out the window.

So if Roczen wins, I guess the whole 4 strokes are better argument is out the window. LOL.

Yes, that is one worry I have, JS style spank them on a 125 . Although aren't you the one who said they aren't ever gonna change the rules anyways?
