If it's as low hours as they say, then it wouldn't be a bad deal. Idk about your area, but I've seen 06's in my area for $2500.

One of the reasons this bike can be of value is because it's a green sticker bike in Kalifornakastan... But $2k is a little on the high side...

i picked up a 03 earlier this year for 1900. it had pretty low hours. When i took the suspension in none of the bushings were worn, so either it was rebuilt or not used much which lined up with the guys story.

if its clean thats a good deal id say. other than forks the rest of the bike is close to what the 17 yz is. (my dad had a 17 at the same time so i could test back to back.)

the 46mm forks arent great though, but can be ok with work. if you can find a set of sss forks itll be a great bike

Used bike, nice running condition I'm guessing. $1900.00. Discussed this in another thread. They all seem to settle in at $1900.00, been that way for a long time. Pick it over and negotiate down for tires, chain, sprockets, grips, levers, cables, leaky seals???

Based on the wear on the frame and clutch cover,......that is NOT a low hour bike!

Clean and ready to ride like newman said make a cash in person offer. Id say 1800.00 and see what he says. Dont be afraid to haggle. I just picked up a pretty clean good running 03 kx125 today. He started at 1500. I wallked out with it at a steal of a 1000.00

Around here that bike would sell for 2g no problem. I'd still offer less and see if they'd take it, you never know.

This is true, but you may want to be careful when you start picking a used bike apart just to try and get a lower price......It can backfire and you may piss the owner off to the point where he is done messing with you and walks you to the curb.

I can't stand it when I reasonably price a bike and someone comes and picks it apart. Like they are doing me a favor by taking it off my hands.....I generally tell them that I will burn it to the ground and have a weenie roast before I will sell to them for any price and to come back when they are ready to buy a bike. If you don't want used bike issues, go get a new one.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

1700-1800 is all its worth. People these days ask a fortune for 2 strokes and i never understand it. KBB+$200-300 is about real value usually

If it feels tight, it's worth it. It still has stock graphics in good shape for the year. It also has the factory Yamaha stickers on swing arm which typically get beat to hell if it's been beat.. still stock rear fender too with the stock yz250 sticker.. do it.

That thing is so fucking original it is amazing. 15 years later and it still has stock graphics, bars, not even worn through the swingarm stickers... man that is a pearler bike! 2002 models are basically the same as the 2018 model - in fact I actually like the look of the older shape plastics and wish I didn't update my 2002. Buy that thing! Are you really going to notice newer SSS suspension, frame flex of an alloy frame (when you try qualify for a Pro National)? Hell no. Buy that thing! My 2002 when I bought it in 2015 for a fixer-upper was in way worse shape. Good luck man.

I'd buy it. But only if it has the white crease marks in the plastic that makes Yamahas look sooo good.

I've had 4 YZs now and the SSS forks are night and day better than the open chamber forks.

That thing is mint. My cases looked like that after 30 hours. It has original rear guard, graphics and bars. 2k is nothing for a bike in good condition. Buy it, throw a new piston in it and check out the engine while you are there and enjoy it

Had an 02 steely framed YZ2 that was a decent bike, but preferred the 04 model also owned due to the refinements like the better forks. I'd pay $1,500 max for that bike.

Maybe so but that's $200 of fuel. That buys a lot of fun.

Sold my low hour 2001 for 2k just a few months ago. All stock and maybe 40 hours tops from original owner, my clutch cover had more wear then that and frame paint worn about the same. I think its a fair deal. I mean you are in a range price wise for a few hundred less you are in the 1992-1998 range. I think it is realistic what he is asking, but of course all the people here on vital shitting on the price probably would want to get as much as they could too right?

My kids bikes look like that in less than 10 hours. We were trying to sell a 450 with 5 hours on it and people were busting my ass about the covers so I just replace them.

I paid $1000 for my 04 back in the summer, but the lower rod bearing was shot. Unfortunately it is still torn down to the frame waiting to be put back together while I build my house.
