i believe he would be eligible since he is a citizen and he feels like he got snubbed by france last year. Would he consider it?

I doubt he'd ever get asked by team USA, but he could be a good option. i would cheer for him if he did.

We have plenty of American born citizens to send, win or lose.

I must have missed when he became a citizen. I remember something about Reed becoming a US citizen a few years ago.

Is Marv a U.S. citizen? If he is and it isn't dual citizenship I say what the hell, go for it. Imagine a team of Tomac, Marv and Kenny!

The great majority of us like Marv just fine. You sound like a politician trying to paint everything with one brush.

Southwick, Gillette and maybe was it Utah where people were throwing stuff at him??? Pretty unnecessary.

would be a big compliment to usa if a foreign rider who is now a citizen said FU to his country and rode for us.

As do I. Do you really think he has been embraced by the US fans? Maybe just a bad run last year but that was some BS

A quote from Luongos ( who also is now bringing back the 'get rid of 450s, they're too dangerous , and we should have 2, 250 series' crap) sock puppets site, when he asked Marvin if he'd race for the US Team:

" No, I don't think that would be a good thing for anybody" .

I think the rules say you must have a passport issued by the country you race for... I believe Marv has that. But he's been asked that question and has said that would be weird and unlikely.

I believe that's how Calvin Vlaanderen rode for the Netherlands last year. He's from South Africa...

I was expecting some shenanigans at WW last month, but he was loudly applauded and made to feel very welcome. At least that's what I saw when he was on the podium receiving that awesome cow skull trophy.

A citizen is a citizen.

USA was build on people both citizens 'born here' (post-1776) and citizens 'not born here'. If he wanted to race and represent for the US, then he has earned that right and it would be an honor.

In case we forget, the MXoN USA Team Manager is a foreign born US citizen, just like Eddie Van Halen.

People seem to forget Jeff Ward was born in Scotland, I think he was on the most winning USA teams.

"MXLarge: Alright, you won both the sand track AMA nationals this year at WW Ranch and Southwick and this year the MXoN is in the sand at Assen. So is there any chance you race for France in Assen?

Musquin: No! [answered very quickly]

MXlarge: You and the French Federation still on the outs after what happened last year? [Team France snubbed Marvin for RedBud, then asked him after a rider was injured and Marvin declined]

Musquin: They didn’t want me for RedBud, so I don’t know why they’d want me for Assen.

MXLarge: I know it’s not likely—even though it should be—but if they called you and asked, would you accept the invite?

Musquin: Not really. I mean, yeah. You know, we have a long season and then we go to a track [Assen] that definitely a tough track and sandy track that I’ve never raced. Then we’d have to go there and practice a couple of weeks before and stuff. That would be a big change.

MXlarge: Well, with dual citizenships, you could always put on the Team USA Red, White, and Blue and suit up. We would love to have you. (laughs)

Musquin: No, I don’t think that would be a good thing for anybody. (laughs)"

Legally, it seems he could. I think that would be odd for him though.

I'd heard last weekend that he was asked to ride for France this year, and declined.

Too bad! MM is nowhere near my favorite rider but I think he should ride for the US team. Roger is the heart of the whole effort and was from another country so why not?

MM should reconsider. He has raced in the US for a long time and claims he loves America. So why not show it by doing this?

I think none of the riders really want to go this year. Ferrandis set the stage for that.
