Peacock/Feld is calling the final round the World Champs. Is this a dig aimed at the new World SX Series? Competition is great and I found this interesting. Thoughts?

Oh sorry man.....since they ditched the FIM this year they haven't mentioned world champs all year until this weekend. I thought it was interesting and you clearly don't. Thanks for your incredible insight

Smart ass replies aside, why are they suddenly calling this final round the world supercross championship? They referred to it as that multiple times on the broadcast last weekend as well.

I'm almost surprised felt hasn't done the typical American thing and called the series monster energy world series of supercross of something along those lines.

Email I received from the FIM yesterday, found it interesting...

FIM STATEMENT - All change for 2022 FIM Supercross World Championship

The FIM would like to congratulate Eli Tomac on clinching the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship with one round of the now national America series still remaining this coming weekend. This is the first edition of this championship since Feld Motor Sports and the FIM terminated its long running agreement at the end of last season.

The 2022 FIM Supercross World Championship will get underway in September of this year under the management of the new series promoter SX Global. The full championship calendar will be released soon, when announced these events will determine the official 2022 FIM Supercross World Champion.

Full details of SX Global being appointed as the new promoter of the FIM Supercross World Championship from 2022 onwards can be found HERE.

Thanks for sharing. This is what I was looking for as a discussion, not the jackass responses originally. There is no doubt Feld is worried about the new series and maybe they should be.....or maybe not. Without the OEM's, I am not sure how it can succeed in the moto world.

Is it really a true world championship if the best riders in the world aren't racing it?...

So, uh…
Who are the best Supercross Racers in The World?

As for Feld calling “their series” the World Champ: Main Event…? Well, isn’t this kind of obvious? They’re staking a claim…

“This is OURS”

Let’s see how this plays out…

don't be an ass. btw, the series with the world's best supercross racers is the world championship series. if the fim can pull all the best riders into it's series then so be it. if not then they can call it what they want but that won't make it so.

This guy gets it. If Tomac, Webb, Roczen, Cianciarulo, Anderson, Musquin, The Hunter Brothers, etc. choose to not race this new series, then it will not be a true World Championship. The most prestigious series in the world is the one with the most talented competition. World SX is going to have to poach our top riders in order to actually be a World Championship. Let's see how this plays out.

By the way, Major League Baseball started calling their championship the World Series when we were the only MFers playing baseball.

Where’s Heath Voss? What’s he doing now? He was a World Supercross Champion.

That press release is some serious pettiness from the FIM, clearly bitter about being kicked to the curb in the US. Maybe they'll treat "SX Global" and their riders with a little less neglect.

Seems like this is from Feld and not a mistake, they posted the preview of SLC on their YouTube calling it the '2022 Supercross World Championship'.

I think Feld might try and "trademark" (or copy right...whatever the right word is) the phrase "supercross world championship" to prevent the FIM from using it, by claiming they were using it first.

A Feld FIM court battle over that term could get interesting?

like wrestling, we need an intercontinental world supercross series, universal world series, an extreme world series etc...
so which ones are the REAL ghostbusters?

I live in Utah and I agree. Finale in Mormonville isn't the same.

Las Vegas does not have a stadium anymore. Sam Boyd is closed. Allegiant stadium, doesn’t want Dirt, inside their pretty new Foosball stadium.

I think the AMA, who I believe own the "Supercross" trademark, may have something to say about it.
