Very sad to hear this, anyone in the stunt industry understand who this could've been? What went wrong? 2 wheels is 2 wheels, would appreciate having a family to say a prayer for.

That is very sad indeed. Deadpool was one of my favorite movies ever , so it sucks hearing it happened on set there. I bet Regis might know. Maybe he'll chime in. Whoever she is , rest in peace moto woman.

Interesting procedure on moving an unresponsive body out of a priority scene. Didn't seem that blocked off, the body of the female wasn't covered? What's that about?

Unresponsive can still be alive. In the video, where they have her in c-spine and on the gurney, she moves her arm. They weren't bagging her, and using c-spine precautions. So, it appears she may have been alive. It said she died on scene, not DOA. But, pretty hard to really tell.

Regardless, RIP and may all of those affected find comfort.

It was the first African American woman in an AMA bike race, Joi Harris. It was her first ever stunt job for the movie industry.

The stunt riders have to take some bad risks. I remember Robbie Maddison complaining about having to ride scenes for James Bond without any protective gear

RIP

Top notch crew, top notch directors, top notch rider.... this is very sad.

it is NOT uncommon to do riding without helmets when you are stunt doubling a character on jobs. That is why professionals are brought in. Every precaution was taken to make it as safe as possible. Rehearsals, practices (days before with helmets), speeds.... they are all done with the stunt person in mind.

*I WAS NOT THERE - but I have heard that this happened after the shot was over, a freak thing that wasn't a stunt for the movie. No crash was suppose to happen. This character does not fall off the bike in the movie. To say this happened during a "stunt" is a bit misleading.

I can say from experience from working with them, the stunt team and directors (ex stuntmen) are world class and take no risks when it comes to safety. My heart and thoughts have been with them as I know they are all devestated.

My condolences go out to Joi, her family and all those hurting at this time.

Are you really going to dig in and argue whether her arm's moving or not? Get a grip, dude.

By what the accounts are saying it sounds like she got whiskey throttle coming down the stairs. Things like this make me wonder if these custom movie bikes are built by real mechanics or just custom guys. This could have been a case of a bike malfunction.....think that will be investigated?

This girl was basically on the high of her life. The racing, first movie job. Dang.

It looks like a fairly stock Ducati Hypermotard to me. The frame was painted grey (unless you can get them that color?) so perhaps the bike was apart at some point but she ran the stunt successfully four times prior to the accident. Mechanical throttles rarely get 'stuck' open unless there's been damage (e.g. smashed throttle tube). Those Hypermotards usually have wrap-around handguards but those look to have been removed from her bike. I mean, if she wasn't even wearing a helmet... christ.

RIP to this young lady.

What is Hollywood's thought process behind the movie characters not wearing helmets? I read the above post saying this isn't uncommon when filming movies but how much would the overall quality of the film be effected if the riders wore helmets? Would anyone not go see Deadpool, Batman, etc b/c they wore helmets while riding motorcycles?

R. I. P. Joi..
Hope this isn't disrespectful to say at this time but it sounds like the throttle stuck.
