Ads ads ads, and force feeding you the content they want, the NEW TV!
Take the time to QUIT using Windows 8 and show other people alternatives... I rarely succeed with switching others though, hehe.

The world without Windows and Internet Explorer would be a better place.
Windows 8 ain't bad, definitely a step forward design wise. However if I didn't need software such as the Adobe programs I would probably be running something with the new GNOME package, it's beautiful!
Don't know about you guys but the freakin' mycleanpc ads are the ones that do my nut in
What a ripoff.
Linux shell for the pro's!

Sorry, not mandriva, I meant Linux MINT
When you insert the disc and try to boot to it all you get is a blinking cursor?
Sorta like a black DOS screen with the cursor up in the left corner?
Just a guess...
Let me ask you this... are you able to boot to DOS at all and run DOS commands?
Maybe DOS isnt installed - if not?
Perhaps you need to run a newer DOS Boot disc first and instal DOS.
Then try to instal the factory OS Disc.
My second guess would be - drivers to the CD or Disc player arent installed.
Meaning it's not plug & play and when someone wiped the HD - it wiped everything.
It's not reading the disc / disc drive possibly.
Are you able to get to a hardware settings screen and see it if it recognizes the disc player / drive?
Third guess would be a bad restore disc.
Maybe scratched or dirty or just corrupted.
And now it wont work on the HP's you want to put it / instal it on.
HUh,Not sure....
Does HP put security shit in place to try to prevent people from doing this?
You get anything or does it go back to the cursor screen again?
Do you get the factory default HP screens that come up like before an OS would boot or just that dam cursor?
Sometimes like you mentioned about a bad hard drive - they'll do that also with the cursor I have a dell that
the HD went bad in a couple times and it did that each time.
The reason I ask is...
If you are getting the factory screen then more then likely you should be able to access some HP factory tools.
There should be some sorta tool to check the drives for errors to tell if they're good or bad.
You can look up the error codes online.
Other then that I don't know.
If it's going past the factory screen and then when it gets to a drive it errors - the drive might be fucked.
If you can't wrap your head around that, then i'm sorry for you.
