To me, the best race of the night was Windham and Stewart in their heat race. Stewart got out in front, but Windham was all over him, and Windham was going much faster in the crucial rhythm section leading to the finish line. Somebody crashed at the end of the whoop section - I think it was Justin Sipes - and they put out the red cross flag, and the next thing I knew Windham passed Stewart, appearing to pass under the red cross flag. That really got Stewart's juices going, and he parked Kevin in the bowl turn before the finish line, which appeared to really fire Kdub up, he passed back, and they went back and forth for a couple of laps. On the last lap, Kevin made up a BUNCH of time, got pretty close to Stewart, and then wadded up in a really horrible wreck two turns before the finish. Everyone in the stands kind of held their breath until Kevin finally got up and got on the Asterisk mule.

I hope they show that heat on TV. It was absolutely the best race of the night.

It sounded really intense on twitter. I hope CBS doesn't f up the coverage and shows the heat race in it's entirety instead of 20 laps of Villopoto out front.

Totally agree. Great race, crowd was going insane, SCARY get off that kdub had. I can't believe his leg/knee isn't toast. It was thrashed and yanked by the bike seemingly worse than reeds crash. I was shocked he walked to the mule....

Headed to 3palms in a few, knuckle, need to meet you one of these days. I'm in a silver Tacoma on a ktm 450 #373 (profile pic), son on rm85 #911.. normally park near the mini track....

The officials were already working on reviewing the video of Kevin's first pass of James under yellow, when unfortunately, it became moot after Kevin's crash.

I haven't seen Kevin ride like that in quite a while.

Yea, that heat race was great up to the point....

A friend and I were commenting how #14 had raised the intensity.

Here is to hoping CBS doesn't screw up the broadcast........show the "other heat" in full....and show only a couple highlights from the Stewart / KW heat.

We're talking CBS here.......they will fuck it up!

Kevin is unbelievable to watch anytime, but when he is in the right mood (like last night apparently, and Vegas last year), he is just jaw dropping unbelievable. If he were in those moods every weekend I think he would be a serious title contender. I don't blame him for not pushing the limits every week, with the family, and the goal of making it 20. I hope he feels alright today.

Just watched it, that was the best heat race of the year. You could tell right away they respect each other, they put on a good race, it wasn't too dirty, and Stewart felt bad for running him high after the whoops.

Great summary. Thanks.

I'm sure that they will show the other heat instead (they always do).

I've been really enjoying the comments elsewhere suggesting that Stewart flipped off Windham after his pass.

Awesome race. Sucks big time for Windham. He had a fire up his ass last night.

Best heat race of the year. Windham always catches fire in two or three races where he looks like the man to beat.
