Guess that means he isn't on Redbull anymore...any more developments on where he could go, I really like Dean but he definitely is a risky pick...

He will end up somewhere solid. He's talented, he will just have to ride for merely nothing or wait until someone drops.

Yea, no shit. I like Wilson a lot. But I'm not going to lose any sleep over him not having a ride. He has made more money in the past 5 years than I'll make in 20 or more.

He is very stupid if he doesn't go buy a bike right now and slap on some decent suspension. Even if he doesn't plan to do his own program next year...he needs to be prepped and ready when the call comes. The guy hasn't had much time on the bike for the past few years.

That said, he'll have a contract by the end of the week. If I were a team Wilson, Bogle and Brayton would be at the top of my list. Between RCH, JGR and MCR those three will fall in place I'm sure.

I know the Transworld Slamfest isn't exactly a resume builder but it could have helped his cause this weekend. Unfortunately, Weimer rode awesome and Nick Schmidt didn't just roll over and make things easy for Dean. He'll land on his feet and find something solid for 2017. He's too good not to be racing!

Sadly, I think Deans time has come and gone. He hasn't been competitive for the last 2 years and the teams are always scouting the next big thing. With good knees. It a shame that racers this young need to go practically begging to get a ride.

Exactly. If Dean were to read this I would say invest in yourself, get decent equipment, put together a sponsorship package with different tiers for businesses in the SoCal area and even nationally, and send your dime of a gf out to get your foot in the door in front of business owners/decision makers. Right now is when most businesses are putting together their 2017 budgets (if they are on a calendar year). Even team up with some other top-level riders without rides and form your own privateer team to maximize exposure. You're a business man and a racer now.

And if Feld/MX Sports care about growing the sport, work with them to get numbers on viewing and attendance stats for your sponsorship packages.

In think everything will turn out good for him. I hate the "bad luck"narrative that some people use for riders that have been hurt a lot but i actually think that Dean is one of the riders that actually has had really bad luck.

1. JW racing closing its doors even before Dean got to make his 450 debut was a set back.
2. It was the PC Kawis fault that he got injured the last season on the 250(leg injury).
3. The last 2 ACL injuries have been accidents, it's not like he has gone way over his head and wadded up big time.

He will be fine.

Not a fan of his post.... He should realize that sadly many racers get injured every season.. he will be getting calls starting 2 or 3 weeks into the season to fill in... Then he will have yet another shot to showcase what he can do... But tenth place isn't gonna cut it to land a more permanent full on ride...

You're rolling the dice by signing any rider.

Reality is there is only a few guys who can win so to me signing Dean is a great alternative, a kid who can sneak a result here and there and has a little name recognition.

*all assuming he isn't asking for an overpay.

I would ride for the hot tub mogul. Gotta make them ends. A paycheck is a paycheck and it doesn't matter what other people think of your employer. You could damn near pick your bike brand, and have Genova send it to PC for all the mods.

The only way that team will beat the stigma and gain legitimacy is by moving on from Friese and Mike. Someone has to be "the first". Why not Dean? He could help that team and help himself too (by cashing checks). Better than loading up a Sprinter yourself.

Just a thought.

I think Dean has had some bad luck, however i do think that he has not showed enough in the time he was on the bike to be a first call on anyone's list.
therefore i assume he's going to get signed by a team somewhere in the time slot of late oktober half november teams like team Tedder for example or as stated above Genova's team. And honestly i would like to see this happen because he can be relatively stress free and no pressure for results from the team he could get himself to the old Deano again and that would be great.

Surely winning 450sx heat races in 14,15 and 16 puts him at the top of the free agent list.

Heat race speed doesn't always equate to main event or outdoor speed though. That's the problem. So he's fast for a few laps, but he's also proven to be somewhat fragile. As a team manager, it would only make sense to gamble on him for short money.
