I re watched the 2014 Toronto supercross tonight, and I just kept thinking to myself, I don't think we've seen anything like this since then. I know it's only been almost 4 years now, but even prior to that, when did we see a ride like that? Someone just going for it, doing impossible rhythm sections on a ridiculously technical track all while coming from beyond mid pack to take the lead with so many champions in the field. Even if RV wasn't sick that night, he had nothing for James. James passes RV, Roczen, and dungey straight up to take the win. It was such an incredible ride and one I'll never forget.

Tomac at Salt Lake City was pretty good!

Even if your not a JS7 fan, you have to admit that was one hell of a ride. He was on another level for sure that night. Another great race was RC4 last SX race. Both him & JS7 put on one hell of a race.

I agree. I doubt we will see someone consistently do what stew did. The quads, the insane whoop speed, and no fucks given mindset. Love him or Hate him you can’t replace James Bubba Stewart.

Pretty much Stew '07 whenever he got a bad start are the only other times i can think of off the top of my head lol. Dude was 5 years ahead of his time on some nights.

2014 Toronto wasnt even Stewarts best ride if he was in 07-09 form he would made easy work out of everyone.

James couldn't bring his meds into Toronto so he had to go out and buy some of that Canadian meth

Stewie was definitely on it that night. That being said, it wasn’t the first time we’ve witnessed a ride like that, and I doubt it’ll be the last. I remember Magoo at the MXdN. Johnny ‘O in ‘86,

Stewart got tested and caught taking PEDs a couple of weeks after that race. His dosage was limited and as a result he never won a race again. So unless amphetamine is legalized in pro MX it is highly unlikely we will see another performance like that.

Reduced dosage? He also won High Point.

Man , did any of you guys even watch the races he did after he came back? It was a disaster to say the least. I for one hope he doesn't come back , as he'll just end up wounding himself. The dude has a family now , and should be enjoying the retired life. Them size 30 pants are more like size 38 by now. He was never the same post ban....and if you truly want the best for the guy....hope that he stays on the couch. Which is exactly what he'll do.

And there goes Jeffro. One of God's own prototypes. A super high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

James was in classic form that day. Even during track walk, Classic James. Smiling, giddy-happy, jus' wanting to ride and stoked to be there.

I ripped a start from Egypt and I was happy about that.

And don't get me wrong.....James was a BAD man on a motor bike. Pretty sure his time has come and gone , just like RC , RV , RD and many other greats. It just happens.

All I know is that I miss the days of the 259 and the 7...I even remember the video of him being PISSED when they took the "1" off of his bike to put the "7" back on. He took shit to "The Next Level" & made everyone-else bump it up a notch.

We won’t see it again from Bubba.

I really think we'll never seen an amateur rider come into the pro ranks the way Carmichael and Stewart did. Those days are gone.

Why?

Well, one thing is, I think the speed that 250/450 4-strokes is peaking to a point where the rider holds on for dear life and makes it or crashes their brains out. I feel like Stewart found where that line was.

The other, the 4-strokes make it easier to go faster, it flattened the depth and skill required to race. Don't get me wrong, the pros are insanely talented, but that 0.01% of talent at the tippy-top isn't a separation anymore. Like, when Stew came in, he was the very top of 0.001% talent and no one could touch him. Everyone got equipment that allowed them to keep momentum at nearly the peak speed in corners etc, this took away Stew's pure talent advantage.

So, I just think rides like that won't happen anymore because the talent is too close because the bikes allow it.
