So, a while ago I replaced my chain and accidentally cut it one link too short. I decided to try and make do, but it was a pita. Long story short it's fine now, chain has the right amount of slack, except that the chain adjuster is almost flush with the bolts.. it's all the way forward. My mechanic friend told me this will make the bike extremely twitchy. I just put on a brand new tire and it is just barely rubbing the mud flap... like, the bottom of the hairs are rubbing. Do you think this will be a problem? This is with the bike on the stand. Take a look at the pictures. The last picture emphasizes the wear the mud flap has on it from the old tire already , I'm not sure if this is normal.

It'll be fine, you might notice it turn in quicker. But it's within the factory adjustment.

With the tire that close to the swing arm it may want to pack up with mud and basically act like a brake if you ride in muddy conditions much.

Cut 13mm off each knob and you'll be good to go.

The bike will in deed turn quicker with this set up, but you will be fine.

You are good to go, just make sure the rear chain guide is not binding to hard or it will wear out super quick.

19in rears are over rated... you get more revolutions from a 17in and they're cheaper.

We see this all the time at my shop. Just go buy an extra master link and run two.

In the future, count twice, cut once.

Seriously, buy a new chain. This is ridiculous.

Don't be bitchy about the the fact that I didn't wash it, I'm well aware of that. I usually do but it would've been a lot of extra work. Only changed a tire. I've been doing this for years. Some of you ought to be more helpful. Btw everything's good, you can leave me alone now. I forgot that my new tire is a 110/90, while my old one was a 120/80, which has significantly higher knobbies in the center. Which is where the flap wear came from.

That's a great idea, didn't even think of it. If I dislike how it handles I may very well buy another master link. Thanks.

Do exactly this. And then after that chain stretches just a bit and you get it towards the end , remove the second master link and run her normal. I have had bikes in the past where this has happened , and the second master link worked well.
