When Ricky Carmichael switched from Kawasaki to Honda
he got booed by most of the fans at Anaheim stadium, continued
for another few rounds.

He got boo’d for most of that year because he absolutely handled MC the year before. Not because he switched brands.

RC's boo's were well earned, Honda worked hard for the hate. His first public appearance on a Honda was by lowering him from the ceiling of the US Open in 2001 as the new "King" of Supercross, even wearing a King's crown and robe. The was a huge disrespect to the man we still call "King", MC. Yea, fan's didn't dig that at all.

Times are way different, People don't care so much what their favorite rider rides as much as that their favorite rider rides. And there was more to it than just the Switch of brands. I think he may have even picked up a few fans with the Switch.

People who boo riders for stupid reasons are idiots. Just like when Ferrandis was booed, I was embarrassed for our sport and country. Now if someone came out and disrespected the flag....them Boo like hell.

Tomac was never one of my favorite riders....probably due to his aloofness. I've come to realize that I might be the same way if "fame' was thrust upon me. That said, I have always had mad respect for his skills.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how he'll do on that Star Yammie....

Surprised I don’t know the answer to this question, are RC and MC friendly these days?

Wasn't there some people not happy he was (I think ?) the first guy to earn a #1 plate but run his "Permanent" #4 instead ?

If people are going to boo him because of a brand change that’s on them, anyone who would do that should just go ahead and change the channel to that fake assed TV wrestling shit.

That would be ironic because when Ricky beat Jeremy, Ricky said he wouldn't run the number 1 because that was Jeremy's number. Ricky was extremely respectful of Jeremy.

Also, Ricky wearing the crown and robe at the US Open was not his idea and he did NOT want to do it. I was a teen when all of this was happening and I HATED Ricky for the years he was on Honda but looking back on it and knowing the facts now, I was an idiot for hating him.

I wasn’t a Huge Ricky fan back then because he fucking won EVERYTHING. I’m sure there were others that felt the same.

I like to have seen him stay on kawi, but he's a great rider so no hate here. I'm stoked for Anderson riding a green bike, so team green not loosing me as a fan. Rider fan 1st, brand second for me.

Definitely going to be a little weird seeing him riding Blue. One thing's for sure - superfan Dylan won't be booing him at all.

I think he will do well on blue for sure. I just am not a fan of someone who was given a race victory when the teammate had it in hand. Then because of that victory gets 1 million dollars as a bonus and doesn’t even thank Joey. To me, that’s pretty shady

I was at the US Open that year and he was booed for several reasons. Like others said, he took down the King that was loved and adored by Moto fans. He left his longtime brand that stood behind him since he started for what only appeared to be money and then there was the lowering from the ceiling in the robe and crown that was the cherry on the cake. It just carried over to Anaheim a few months later.

Looking back, he was booed for winning, looking out for himself and his families future and lastly listening to his bosses and doing what they asked of him. He had to be cringing waiting to be lowered down that night.

Eli was due for a change and nobody cares if a guy chases money these days. I seriously doubt he will be lowered into the stadium tonight so I doubt we will hear any boo’s for ET3.

I've always thought booing was only acceptable for blatant takeouts in inconsequential or unheralded moments. Any other time just seems whack.

Not to Suzuki he wasn’t
How long do you have to be on a brand to be considered loyal? Dungey road Suzuki for
most of his amateur career and half of his pro career. That’s pretty loyal.
