I don't know. He did skip the last portion of the whoops and a turn. I'm on the fence about it. When you think about it, he probably saved 3-5 seconds at least by skipping to the next section. I don't think he beat 8th and 9th place by much.

He won't but he should.

He should be docked 2 positions. He finished about 1 second ahead of Chisholm and 2 sec ahead of Harrison. Cutting that part of the track saved him at least 2 seconds, so it's only fair to dock him back to 13th.

PC should protest, a couple of position could mean a huge difference for JS17 by Vegas (as he's used to) and maybe stars protest last week too and then politics come into play and monster as title sponsor for both fix it right away.

Gained no time on anyone he cut across the Track when he should of turned around got back in the whoops and hit the turn he saved 3-6 seconds there.

He finished with two riders within 2.5 sec behind him. That’s 2 positions he would lose with just a 5 sec penalty.

The corner was right there where he re-entered. No time was made, he lost positions. Get over it ! It was nothing like Savatgy’s half lane short cut last year so don’t bother bringing that up

He didn't gain time? I would say that he gained at least 5 seconds.

How long would it have taken him to turn the bike finish the whoops and take the corner like you are supposed to do? At least 5 seconds and i'm being generous.

Just because the bike was pointing towards the other lane doesn't make it okay to cut the track.

You guys who are saying that "he didn't gain time". Why did he cut the track then? Savatgy got docked places last year, Plessinger cutting the track was not as bad as Savatgy last year but to not give him any kind of penalty would be so, so stupid.

Enter the track at the first available safe moment without gaining an advantage.

The rule is impossible to interpret since it's automatically an advantage gained by not having to renter where you exit. So now you have to interpret if they deliberately try to gain MORE of an advantage or do they do what the spirit of the rule is, which is just get back in the race as safely and quickly as possible. I'd say he did. He just got on his bike and rode back onto the track. Somehow, and this is why the rule is so poorly written, if he crashed at the beginning of the whoops and rode straight on to the next section, I'd vote to punish him. It's almost as if the rule is "what would any reasonably experienced motocross racer do?" In the EMS world, we call it "Standard of Care". If you get sued, the court will ask if any reasonable EMS provider certified at the same level would act in the same way.

It was exactly like Savatgy's short cut last year. AP didn't cut as much of the track, but they both hopped into the next lane without finishing the one they crashed out of. You can't do that.
