Will KX450F 2018 Triple Clamps fit on 2019 KX450???

ML commented they were a close fit, but I was wondering if anyone has any info for sure. Not sure if it was just as simple as a stem swap? Found a used aftermarket set, and I believe the '19 will be my next bike...

THANKS!

No they will not. The stem is 3mm shorter

If that is the only problem, have a machine shop take 3 mil out of the the lower clamp. Done.

Thanks for info. Just so I'm clear swapping the stems wouldn't work??? Thanks

The ‘19 is an all new bike, so dimensions may have changed on the entire assembly. If the length is the only change, then you could swap them out. Are you personally acquainted with the seller of the clamps, so you can do a straight up comparison to the ‘19 clamps? As in, not buy them and be stuck with them?

It's the stem and the step height that's different. If you have an aftermarket set of clamps, you can have a machinist take a few mms off the step near the top of the stem so the top clamp sits down flush and will tighten up correctly. The Kawi team did this to their X-Trig clamps until a new stem was made.

Gotcha, thanks ML.

I have a ‘19 and I guess I’m out of the loop. Why would you switch them, offset?

^ I try to go for the clean factory look to mask my slow speed. :-)

Can you press out the 19 stem and press it in the 18 clamps?

Take it to the limit, one more time!

Are we any closer to knowing the answer to this question yet? Xtrig does not respond to email.

They are now.

With how great that new bike is, personally I’d want to keep the OEM triple clamps. Like someone else said the 2018 is pretty different, the 2019 clamps may very well work better than your aftermarket part

Does anyone know if they have been released yet?

I sold my ride engineering clamps that were 21.5mm offset from my 16-18 model bike with my a kit forks as I'm running the stock forks now. I bought a set of 21.5mm ride engineering clamps for my 2019 when they had a black friday sale. I rode a friends stock 19 back in august for a few minutes, and I've only got 1 ride on my 19 due to winter but it was with the 21.5mm ride clamps and the bike is awesome. The MY19 clamps from ride are different than the MY18 and older.

I swapped my neken clamp from 2018 kx450f onto 2019 kx450 and it fit perfectly, with an aftermarket nut with a flange on it, instead of oem nut and thick washer.

This woulda likely make your fork height measurement unreliable btw. The stock setting is to run it flush, which would actually be sunken down into the clamps with the setup you’re describing.

I took a better look at my top neken clamp and there are 3 threads exposed above the nut, so oem nut and washer would have worked. I also measured the height of the clamps at the stem and both are identical (20mm). So, wouldn't I have the same flush starting point for tube height? (both clamps are even across the top)
Sorry, my talk about different nuts and no washer may have lead you to a different conclusion smile
I really do like this neken clamp. It made "slap down landings" waay more tolerable (125psi in it)

Will it work if you change the stem to a 2019 model?
