Assuming Adam wins the east coast SX title in 2014. He will defend his title his 250 title in 2015. Then will we see him on 450 in 2016 SX?

Hardly. Not a stretch at all to think that AC will be on a 450 in 2016.

I thought the rules allowed for 3 years minimum, even if you won a championship the first year,

they changed the rule after Canard was going to be put up after 2 years,

I believe a rider can ride 3 seasons in the 250s regardless of their points each season.

Not anymore. That is why Tickle had to move up after winning the title.

Looks like I was wrong:

2. A rider that wins a 250SX Championship will be eligible to participate in the 250SX class for a maximum of three years total regardless of what year he/she won the title. (i.e. if a rider wins the Championship in their third year of 250SX competition, they will be ineligible for the 250SX class regardless of points and therefore not eligible to defend their 250SX Championship title)

I think if he wins back to back titles he will have to move up ? I remember Canard not winning his second year so he could race a third year on the 250f because I thought the rule was you only get one shot at defending it prior to canard. But maybe back to back then you're forced up

From page 39 of the 2014 AMA SX rulebook: http://www.amasupercross.com/rules/pdf/2014%20SX%20Rulebook%20Ver%2012…

e. AMA 250SX Regional Champions may defend their
championship’s the following season, with the following
clarifications:

1. Champions may ride either region the following year but
must only compete with the no. 1 plate when defending in
the region in which they won the Championship.

2. A rider that wins a 250SX Championship will be eligible to
participate in the 250SX class for a maximum of three years
total regardless of what year he/she won the title. (i.e. if a
rider wins the Championship in their third year of 250SX
competition, they will be ineligible for the 250SX class
regardless of points and therefore not eligible to defend their
250SX Championship title)

3. After a rider wins a second Championship, in either region,
the rider will be ineligible for the 250SX class, regardless of
points or number of years in class.

So yeah, AC will be forced to the 450s if he wins two lites championships in a row.

Tickle did not win the title the first year, he had 3 seasons in the class at least,

the rule they deleted that caught tickle was the fact you got to defend your first title no matter what,

I always wondered how long they could stay in the 250 class? Davalos started racing in the 250 class with Decosta and he is still in it.Laughing

"Decosta" jacks up the humor.

Actually "Decosta" is even funnier I think.

The real question is when does DeCoster move up to the big bore class?

If he wins the east coast championship he can:
1-Defend east title next year and move up the year after
2-ride west coast for his second year and if he wins there he can choose either coast his third year.

Point two is incorrect. See above. A rider can only win two titles in the class, even if they haven't met the three year requirement.

Its a bit the same situation as Herlings in GP with riders winning at a very young age. Should he really be on a 450 in 2 years time? Probably has the talent but physically it sounds crazy he still looks like a kid.

RC and James were on 250's when they were 19/20. Both started winning at age 16 and titles.

"Could" he? Yeah sure, he's obviously super talented. Before we talk about 3 though, he needs to win 1. He's still a rookie. To answer the other question, I think he'll win the title this year, and therefore he'll have to move up by 2017 though I don't think he will move up any sooner than that either. He's not very big, and still very young.

It's not possible. Read above. The most titles that you can win in the 250F class (SX) is two now. After two you have to move up, even if you have only been in the class for two years.

Wow sesker15,

Looks like you got drilled for what I thought was a very good question. I have to assume it was read incorrectly by most. That will teach you to ask valid questions! Shame on you! Smile

Would be cool if he defends next year, just to run a #1 and then the following year try for a west coast title. Thats what I think I would want to do.

Really...? It didn't work out well for him last time this exact situation arose. Mitch had to create a whole new 450 program because the AMA didn't change the rule for Tickle.
