Why would Roger put Roczen and Musquin on the West coast SX?

Maybe to guarantee a SX Championship for KTM in their first year?

Ping made a pretty good point in the last Racherhead. This way they have more time to prepare for the outdoors. A SX title may still be a bit too much to ask from them, but both riders definitely have a chance for the title outdoors.

I don't until they prove they can stay off the ground.

Makes sense for KTM marketing wise.
A-1 is the big show to kick off the season, better press than the first round of the East SX Lites.

Bring out all the big guns and get the best showing you can.

Here, I fixed it.

"This way they have more time to rehab for the outdoors." Wink

I believe Roczen can win either coast and will win the west.

Musquin and Roczen will share many a podium outdoors.

And at least once KTM will sweep both classes, either indoor or out.

Don't worry, Musquin perfectly knows how to stay on two wheels on a SX track.

Lap times on the KTM SX track a few days ago :

Dungey (450) : 48"2
Musquin (250) : 48"8
Roczen (250) : 49"2

I assume you know those guys run lots of laps. Picking one out doesn't mean a thing. I love to watch Roczen and Musquin ride, but you're asking a lot of them to assume or imply that they're going to go Dungey speed.

Let those guys ride and be happy for them if they do well. Don't burden them with "next big thing" status until they achieve it for themselves on the track.

Musquin and Roczen are already used (and for a while) to the "next big thing" status...

This place is so predictable. If a guy is from Europe, then Musquin and Roczen are gonna DOMINATE. If a guy is from the USA, then "they need to take it easy and stay off the ground" or "they haven't proven anything yet".

As an American who loves to go against the grain, I will say that Roczen is AWESOME and should be a title contender this year. Musquin, is probably awesome too but I am not sure if he is as awesome as Roczen yet. All I know is that I hope they both stay injury-free and we get to see the bar raised yet again.

Never said that they will dominate.

If one of them gets hurt during the west can they make the switch to the east?

1. Both riders can put in strong West Coast performances marketing the brand
2. Both riders can race 450/350 during the East Coast rounds marketing the brand
3. Both riders can better prepare for 250 Outdoor Nationals if they only do West lites.
4. Both riders can swith coasts if injured prior to sx season.

He did that already. Got hurt at Bercy last year and sat out the SX season.

Maybe Roger wants his riders to be happy? Who would want to race East? I wouldn't.

it'll save KTM a bit of cash, only having to go to half the rounds with the 250 setup.....

Not thinking this is the greatest move. The max they can have is now 2 titles in SX, as opposed to 3. Unless, they think one of their support team riders like Malcolm Stewart has a good shot at the east title.

I think that is the reason. To put all the eggs in one basket and (assume) it guarantees the one. They still have to run the races though.

What are the chances Wilson and Barcia race west coast too? Lites class could get really interesting.

Roczen and Musquin will be front runners, albeit it might take MM a bit longer, not having the AMA SX experience that K-Roc has.
