Not making passes late in the races, is this the old Tomac?
Seems like he’s just settling, does it have to do with being a father?
What happened to the whoops turning into doubles triples?

Because the tracks are narrow, he can't start for crap and the pace up front is torrid.

Season is barely 1/3 over, tracks have been difficult to pass really fast guys on, doesn't need to panic and won't. He has the right perspective at this point, seeing the season on a macro scale. That's it

He’s lovin life rn. Spending time with the family, has the records he wants, gettin paid. Risk isn’t worth the reward in his mind. He will win when he gets the opportunity. Season still early.

I think we're seeing the same Tomac, it's just that Roczen is on a different level than he's been since his big injury. Kenny's extra speed + Eli likes to make really clean passes = the results this season.

Seems like he's trying to be a little bit like Dungey. Take the win if it's there, but otherwise be steady and churn out a title with consistency. Not working too good...he needs to just be himself and twist the grip off.

Every rider in professional motocross history has had days off of his max potential. And yet every time Tomac does, apparently there needs to be a new thread about it.. every. Single. Time.

I might be living "in a vacuum", but I'm less concerned about Tomac than most of his previous years. He's been there and he'll be there at the end. Too much fight and pride for the #1 to lay down. He's just getting started.

He said last year in an interview with Will Christian that he had learnt to ride within his limits and take the wins that come. It worked for him last year and still may work this year.

Or he does what JA21 did and isn't the same rider again after winning his title

Personally I think we're seeing the inevitable drop off that comes with age. Sure he can still win races and may even have those crazy moments where he just looks unbeatable but I suspect they will be few and far between. Have to remember no one has ever won their first SX title at 27, it was always going to be a big ask to defend it.

Unfortunately for him he spent a big chunk of his prime being unable to put together an SX title.

This is my guess too. Very, very few are able to sustain the level he was on from 2017-2020. He could still win the title, but i think the pure dominance is over. Which is good if your a neutral fan and wants closer racing and a closer fight for the title!

Also Vital: Why the hell is ONE rider not COMPLETELY obliterating the ENTIRE field EVERY SINGLE RACE during the era of parity? There must be something wrong!
