No, he was pointing to go off track anyway.
Who would want to ride that dusty pile that day anyway?

I hate it and will usually just stay home. I live in that wind shit, spending a day outside in it does noting for me. That blowing sand ends up in everything. There are plenty of other days to ride for me.

He was definetely angeled on take off, but the wind took him that little extra bit and tilted him. I was 20 mins from there at Perris, the wind wasn’t as bad there but we were still getting moved over a few feet in the air.

probably shouldn't hit a jump from the left side when the wind is blowing to the left......just sayin...

We rode Pala for a couple of hours sunday morning...it was pretty sketchy...it's one thing if you have a constant speed wind from a constant direction, you can adjust for that, but the wind speed and direction were changing constantly.

I had a friend there yesterday who was standing right there when it happened. The guy broke his tib/fib. He also told me he watched 3 other guys get knocked out from the wind blowing them like that and going down

Dusty? Yeah, I'm all good.
Muddy? Yeah, give me some.
Rocks everywhere? No problem.
Blue Groove? Bring it.
Snowing? Sweet, it will make a cool story.

Windy? Nah, let's play Atari.

I rode big time wind in college. Eastern WA high desert, it becomes second nature after a long while. You'll find that your best scrubs/whips will occur in high winds, life or death situations will improve your style like nothing else.

If you can't whip or scrub: my best advice for crosswind on jumps is to cross jump everything, loosen up big time and let the wind gently carry you from one side of the track to the other.

this, but even if u scrubbed with the wind the momentum of the scrub is too much for wind to move you

HAHAHA!! THIS^^^^^^

I grew up in Great Fall MT where it is windy all the time! Heck if the wind quits blowing up there everybody falls down! It is something you get used to but I will admit it isn't any fun.

Why would they not cancel if it’s that sketchy to race on. What happened to riders first.

I'll tell you what.......until my trip to Glen Helen last Sept , I have never ( in 35 years ) ever rode in winds like that before. Borderline scary at times. Me , my buddies Chuck , Dennis and Barron ( BVM111 ) rode on Friday , and holy hell. My buddy Chuck got his bike ripped out from under him and he went down pretty hard. Me and Barron were in the middle of a practice section , when the entire lower part of the track got engulfed in a sand storm , that us and everyone around us , had to come to a stop. You literally couldn't see where the track was. We were getting 50mph gusts. My first experience with the " Santa Ana winds ". Scary stuff for moto.

They didn't cancel our OT round at Glen Helen ( thank god! ). Btw....I looked for you there. The gal at the front gate said you might be coming down , but I never did run into you there. Met quite a few dudes from Vital though.

Looks painful. Hope he's okay. When its windy, I'm in the woods, or I'm not on my bike. Forget that man...

I was debating going out there this past weekend, and chose to keep the bike in the garage. Looks like I made the right decision…

I landed down the right side of the big triple at Florida tracks and trails last time i was there on a windy day. Totaly 90 degrees to the landing. I felt like Ronnie Renner free riding in the hills. I barely rode it out. It was sketchy. The grass kind of stopped my bike like landing in mud and i almost hi sided and ripped my left leg off and i pulled a bounce knack knack but somehow lived.

Jeffro503 I was going to come down except all the reports said strong winds. Plus I had someone coming over to by my Titan so it was best I stayed home. Sounds like it blew but not as hard as I heard it was. It’s a clubs call to cancel but I don’t think unless Glen Helen calls it to unsafe they still pay rental fees. I think the same at Milestone as well.

Been riding 35 years and never had wind over 5-7mph on a dry day. Amazing how different things are around the country.

it would be okay if the wind just moved you to one side but it seems to blow your wheels out from under you like that guy. Sketchy.
