For the first time ever in my life I've been completely away from the moto trends. I still follow the racing but my bikes have been sitting and I haven't been on vital or following much for the last 2 years. What's the deal with people "cancel culturing" swap? I know there's gotta be a solid reason because I've been seeing it a lot lately. Thanks in advance, just looking to be enlightened.

First I’ve heard of this. Most people I know like Swap. I remember seeing him at Lemon Grove running around back in the mid 90s and MxRacer. He’s as og as it gets.

I’m pretty active here and follow a fair few social accounts and podcasts, but this is the first I’ve heard about this. The spat with Ride Engineering seemed like a misunderstanding that turned into beef when neither guy wanted to take the blame. Really more of a business fallout than anything else.

As with any media outlet, some are not crazy about the quality of the content he puts out, but "cancelled"? No, that's not happening.
Some sort of misunderstanding there.

I don’t dislike them, but recently watched the Ryno one and must say the Audio was suprisingly bad for a media outlet that does a lot of interviews. But definitely not enough of an issue to not watch.
Personally pulp is my go-to, then whiskey if they have a guest I’m interested in..
I listen to cooksey approximately never..

Some good and some bad. It's good to have different outlets and takes tho.
Mike Antonovich is very knowledgeable about specific moto tech and more accurate about mxgp facts than pulp's .
It's refreshing sometimes to have strict facts and less opinions. I can make my own if I need to. Don't always need someone's.
I do relate to Don, being middle aged and hanging with youngins. Shootin' the sh*t.
As much as I used to respect Jody's contributions to moto media, at least Swap is making the effort to reach us, on our platforms. I still wish Jody would go on the Whisky Throttle Show. he has seen as lot and wish he would share it in audio interviews just like all the great have done so far.
True, Swap audio quality could be improved and the entertainment value, mostly Aray dairies, does not match pulp and others.
but hey, I appreciate it. I sometimes frown at some of the stuff, audio and burps in mic. It's free and if we don't like it, there are no obligations to endure it. win win for us.
As for the beef between what she said and what she thought she said... I already forgot who drilled what frame and who thought what and who didn't and who's an engineer and who said who was not and what not... I moved on and am not lending neither parties any bikes or parts. Cheers

Been a while but he did screw Jeremy McGrath pretty badly and made himself look bad as a journalist back in the late 90s. Jeremy was switching from Fox to No Fear and gave Donn an exclusive (then an editor at MXracer) which wasn't suppose to be run until after New Years when his Fox contract was void. Instead Donn ran it in the December issue instead and Fox refused the pay the remainder of McGrath's contract, which he claimed was still over $200k.

Other than that I'm just not a fan of the guy's interview style. He tries too hard to bro down instead of looking for actual content in my opinion.

I was just wondering the same thing. Swap videos were posted in the ryno and Trevor Stewart threads. Both instances, the first reply was “not giving him a click”. I can understand not being a big fan. I’m not in love with his bro down style. But certainly no hate for the guy. Did I miss something? Are people boycotting him for any particular reason? Or is it just a general dislike?

I don't know about the canceling. I don't enjoy his interviews. He's slow and it's awkward. Probably a nice guy and I loved Transworld but his live stuff isn't my cup of tea.

I think their content is pretty good, but the audio needs lots of work on the podcasts. You cannot hear Anton and then the guest basically yells at you. Either way, I really appreciate all the content we have available now from all the sources.

If you can’t get the audio right on your podcast stop doing it, I just don’t like swaps personality. Which is fine, I’m sure he wouldn’t like me either.

It’s just a personality thing for me. Donn comes across as having the personality of a wet sock. Doesn’t mean I despise the guy or want him to fail. There are other sources that I prefer over SML, that’s all.

I listen to a ton of podcasts with a wide array of budgets and technical no how, and for me I can’t stand just how bad the audio is on all his interviews and podcasts. There’s really no excuse for it to be that bad in 2021. Also didn’t love the dog whistle posts on Instagram last Supercross season but a lot of people in the sport probably loved it.
