James Stewart is a Red Bull Athlete.
You can say it other-ways or you might even get someone to give you some particulars as to how this came to be "the point"...like how it's about a Helmet, a Logo and a Really Big Check...HIS Really Big Check; but, it all still comes down to the following...
James, Red Bull, Period.
The Shop
Stewart didn't "leave" Kawasaki.
Kawasaki did the same with Stewart they did with Ricky Charmichael - they didn't offer him a contract.
That has been their MO for a number of years, until RV, who they decided to play ball with and he decided to trade some cash for comfort with a bike he knew.
Kawi Generally sees their role as developing riders to a certain point, but when it comes to really spending big money, they step away. Probably from the days of not being able to out bid Honda, so they developed a habit of letting guys go.
There's always a lot more to it than the "simple answer" provides. Especially on this one.
Ricky and James tell the exact same story....so must be a big mystery, with all kinds of twists and turns and so much more to it, that repeated twice in a matter of a couple of years.
Pit Row
That would go a long way to resolving issues with a bunch of know-it-alls. Of course not me, cause I really do know-it-all.
On a related topic, I've always wondered why Stew ran the 125 in 04 (other than the last round at Glen Helen). It's not like 05, when Kawi didn't have a 450 and stuck him on that roided 250; they had the 250f out there. Was it as simple as the hot start issues with the 250f's then?
