Apparently minor rumblings.

No water to water the track (water table has run dry).... and the variant raising issues as well... I hope the race happens still, but its up in the air at this moment.

D Blair talked about it this week on his show and I was wondering the same thing.

God forbid our delicate little flowers have to experience dust, like Hannah, Howerton, Tripes...

You think they are concerned about dust because of the riders? More about TV coverage and making sure sponsors are visible I’d imagine.

I would not be surprised. They made that schedule before the variant came to town. And well, we all know about California and how they rule with an iron fist.

Double them up at Pala...Indian Reservation can (sort of) play to their own set of rules.

|

7/29/2021 8:15 AM

What will they do if they can't run it?

Not much time to find another track.

|

Go for it! Don't let a little thing like fear, or common sense hold you back.

7/29/2021 8:18 AM

The race is outdoors and even the more contagious delta variant probably does not spread well outdoors.

Now, not having water, that's a real problem...

Just run 2 mi of irigration pipe from a fire hydrant and fill 12 22k gallon Frac tanks. We had to do that 1 time for hhg drilling.

Don't know about the water issue, however the recall election is three days after the race so I would not expect any new lock down orders.

There is an amateur race this weekend, promoter had water issues but seems to have been reconciled. Hard working guys always seem to manage difficulty.

Wouldn't surprise me with drought, take a look at Lake Oroville, before and now.

If they’re going to have to do a double header I’d hope they do it at Ironman as opposed to Pala III. Make Pala II the final of the season.

Was it 2, maybe 3 years ago the Oroville dam was in jeopardy of failing? Just goes to show how much of a desert CA really is.

Rode my bike up to Folsom Lake (adjacent Hangtown), and this was in late May when it hits peak volume:

Interesting and intelligent thought!

FTR, the people at "Dirt Diggers North" are EXTREMELY resourceful and have plllllenty of connections in the Sacramento area.

I inquired with the club, Dirt Diggers North...namely the guy you see on the Cat maintianing the starting area at the race...a club member for as long as I can remember there being a club...

My question was: Are you guys coming up with solutions for water at The Hangtown National?

Response: Of-course, we got it handled!

I'm pretty stoked on these guys. They've always pulled off an epic event.

Nobody ever told me, I found out for myself. You've got to believe in foolish miracles. It's not how you play the game, it's if you win or lose. You can choose. Don't confuse. Win or lose. It's up to you!

Redbud. We have all the water.

Agree, double up on Redbud or Millville. We have water, green grass and even tree's! . Between laws, regulations and drought in California and southwest would think it's going to be harder to host large MX events.

Yeah they need to fill railroad tankers from the Great Lakes and run a few 7,000 ft trains to the west . It,s so dry in a few western states. I,m going for a bicycle ride by the bay in a bit, another body of water at capacity.

I worked on the spillway reconstruction in 2017. Crazy seeing those pictures.

Looks like a pond even when full. The person that named the lakes in the west must be from Minnesota. They count ponds as Lakes too. Wisconsin people joking call them mud ducks, lakes are not big enough to bring joy to a duck. Ducks usually fly ovr a MN. Lake and say I,m not even quacking for this one.

Its pretty big man. I believe the dam is the largest earthen dam in North America. They didn't spend upwards of 1billion dollars on repairs for nothing. They were outstandingly close to losing the whole lake during the spillway blowout caused by a rain event in Feburary 2017 which would have caused irreparable damage to the nations largest and most productive agricultural zone and would have killed millions of people. Lake O is size large by just about all standards.
