I'm under the impression that Mike is a favorite, not a dark horse...

My dark horses are j-law on the 450's and Wharton on the 250's

Who do I expect to see up front in the 450s? Alessi was the only guy capable of staying close to James last summer...but I'm not sure we ever saw full speed out of number 7 during the summer of '08.

RV has looked awfully good in the times that I've seen him ride. Chad would be good outdoors, too. I think the last time I saw Josh Grant on a 450 outdoors was at the World Mini when he and Alessi were both wrapping up their amateur careers.

I'd say J-Law is a good dark horse 450 pick, as long as he stays out of trouble for 24 motos...and has someone coaching him on nutrition. (Remember winning the first moto at GH last year, and then coming to the line with a sour stomach for moto two?)

I still sort of need to see who actually shows up on the line at GH. Might there be a little gamesmanship (or psych) being laid down here? Who knows?

On the 250s, I expect Rattray to be a strong contender, along with Dungey. I know Tommy Searle has his share of fans here, but I'll be curious to see how me makes the conversion to the pace of the U.S. races. Heck, there are probably ten guys who could win a lites moto this summer.

A good dark horse in the 250s? How about someone who's been off the radar for a little bit, like Brett Metcalfe?

If you go back and take a look at your TIVO you will see that Tim Ferry ran down and passed MA early on last year before he was hurt which the Kawi camp kept silent about.

In the 250's you can watch Metty all over everyone shite in many moto's but was just a hair away from a win.

Reasonable dark horse pics are;

Ferry
Metty

But could list many more as all the top riders are incredible!

Josh Grant would have odds somewhere around 3/1 if we were in Vegas. I have a hard time even calling him a dark horse, considering he'll contend for the championship.

I don't think there is a better overall rider CONFIRMED for Glen Helen

Fitness = Grant > JLaw
Speed = Grant > Hepler
Starts = Grant > RV
Heart = Grant > Factory Honda
Experience = Grant > Alessi

He starts great, rides fast and his fitness is always on par. If there is any knock on him, it's been staying healthy, because he's got the will to win everytime he's on the track.

no, that was a sly attempt at passing off the rider who went 24-0 last year as an underdog to a "green" big boy class rookie

I'd love to see Ferry do some damage. To the competition, not himself.

I think Metcalfe is a good choice - if he can be considered a dark horse. The guy came back from injury last year and went pretty much 3-3 for the last 3 or 4 rounds in a row.

Everyone seems to be writing off Searle as a real contender - he pushed Rattray all year in the GPs. So many riders should be competitive - I cant wait!

For the 450s....JLaw for moto wins....but for a whole season? I wouldn't be putting my money on him being at every race. I really hope he proves me wrong. Cooper will be fast - hopefully he's healthy.

I just can't wait for this weekend! Get your motoxdream teams on everyone! We need more competition for guys like Jock and DW! Congrats on the win by the way DW - couldn't have gone to a more deserving guy!

JLaw might be smoking, but it won't be the compitision.

Would like to see a big leak pack. Grant, Alessi, RV, Ferry, Reed, Short.

Hoping to see RD check out in 250's

450 - Grant or windham (if he's racing)
250 - stroupe or tickle
