That was from 2003, Here is a shot I took of Ryan the week before the Southwick National that year. I took it with a point and shoot camera before I got into DSLR cameras and its still one of my favorite images.

I remember when I was a kid at Budds Creek the year he broke his foot. I was watching him do a TV interview at his rig and I sat through the whole thing without saying a word. At the end of the interview he thanked me for being so quiet and he ended up giving me his boots from the race (I think he practiced that morning and couldn't ride through the pain).. I was so excited, its something I will never forget!

2003 was a great year. Stewart missed the first couple rounds and was eliminated from the championship hunt. Grant Langston and Ryno battled all year for the title. Langston had a couple of points on Ryno going into the last round, but a flood caused it to be canceled. So Langston wins the title for KTM by getting a telephone call!

The Troy, OH round was flooded if I remember correctly. Pretty sh*tty way to win and lose a championship if you ask me.

If memory serves, MXA did a comparison of their two bikes, and they were literally NOTHING alike.

Yeah I remember it being something like ryno’s was obnoxiously stiff, lightswitch power. Then Langston’s was super mellow and easy to ride. Funny how crazy different their bikes and styles were, and they were so close in speed.
