450 class. I ask because everyone in the top 10ish has or have had one.

I'm a fan of Dean Wilson, but were his struggles understandable when he had a ride?

Does he look like he's improved this year?

Would he do better under the Rockstar Factory Canopy?

Maybe, someday...just maybe...

We'll see.

Beyond Wilson, maybe no one. I think the factories are a better evaluator of talent than us. :-)

Bowers, Brayton maybe?

It would have to be someone who "worked his way into the top ten" once or twice, not someone who made a main a few times.

Open a can of whoop ass? You mean like win?

Nobody.

I don't believe there is anybody that is currently capable of making mains that is going to finish any better than a spot or two with different support.

That's what I'm thinking...unusual

Pieck was the last guy that came in, fought for a ride,
And held it I think. And man, it was awesome. Hope he makes it back.
Beyond that right now, I think Pettis is a guy that could make the transition to top tier.

I'll go on a limb and say...Friese.

He can start. He's fearless. Channel the aggression into something more AMA-sanctioned, and we might get somewhere.

Winning, I don't think so but a solid & technical rider I would say Cedric Soubeyras !

Sorry he is french but in 2018 he did lots of top 13-15 on a good bike (with Hansen then HEP, he performed the best of his team that regurlarly put 2 to 3 bikes in the main), but that was nowhere to be a factory bike either I think.

In Europe there are quite a few riders that could do well and that are currently struggling with the mxgp "paid to ride" scheme, and some to make a living take the privateer route then race the french sx tour, pro hexis sx series, british sx, german sx, paris supercross, and geneva supercross.

Jacob Hayes? He's a pretty big fellow and doesn't do bad in the 250 class. Also like Question said, riders such as Valentin Teillet, Valentin Guillod, Cedric Soubeyras, maybe Jeremy Van Horebeek, ... Those could be riders who could kick ass. Those riders are all very talented. Teillet and Soubeyras already proved they can race a SX Track. Also Valentin Guillod showed that if he gets confident he can go fast on a SX track too but he knocked himself two times out of this world in Paris, so back then he wasn't close to the guy who won the SX2 class in Geneva a few years ago. Van Horebeek on the other hand is such a talented rider that it would surprise me if he couldn't adapt if you give him a ride and a coach such as Seb Tortelli who did great work with Jason Anderson when he struggled coming into supercross.

Jordi Tixier is also a rider who could do good in the USA. If he has equipment he trusts he can do everything. Remember the MXON where he came into without much preparation and scored one decent result to make France win. A few weeks later he raced the former Bercy Supercross and he really surprised me with his speed into the whoops and rhythm sections.

There are currently 3 privateer 450 guys that should be on a factory bike that could challenge for top 5 results, and they are Wilson, Bowers and Grant. Besides them before the season you could have added Bogle, Mookie, and Reed, who all have put their fill in bikes towards the top.

For the other privateer guys that make mains regularly, the bike isn’t the reason they are getting the results that they are. A factory bike isn’t going to drop your lap times 3-5 seconds a lap and allow you to race forward for 21 minutes. That’s on the guy twisting the throttle.

I hate age c classes. Ends up being 40 in vet 30c and 5 in vet 30. It’s stupid.

JGR, Smart Top, and Rocky Mountain KTM. The factory teams want the prestige though.

I have to go with nobody. The best are on Facorry teams and anyone that’s capable of whooping ass is already on a bike that’s capable of winning

Everyone in the 450 class who can, "open a can of Whoop A** ", already has "a factory gig". In fact, there's a few with factory gig's who can't "open a can of Whoop A**."
