I did...on the Fox vet track yesterday. Kid made me feel like I was standing still. I used to get pissed or embarrassed. Now that I am older, I am just impressed.

Sometimes I try to latch on to their rear fender and hold thier pace, but doesnt take but a few corners I realize Im wasting my time.
Like you said, these younger kids got skill and zero fear.
I can only imagine how many guys like you I embarrassed.
On the other hand...I'm 60 and can still embarrass a punk or two. I can't jump for shit but I can carve corners like a demon. I know some old dudes on highly modded XR100's that are hard to beat.
That happened to me & a friend in 97 by a kid on a YZ80. I was on a 97 CR2 & my friend was on a 96 CR2 with both bikes having modified engines. This was at the GP track in the upper ranch - Hollister CA practice before the races the next day. The kids name was Ryan Morias AKA Flyin Ryan..
I remember telling my buddy this kid will be a Pro in the AMA SX / MX series in the near future. A few yrs. later I found out he had turned Pro & wasn't surprised due to his speed especially in the corners.
It was for sure a humbling experience for both of us & felt better about my bruised ego after he turned Pro...
I’ve been humbled by a little kid on a KX60 back in the day when I was on a 125. I couldn’t figure out why they let a little kid out there with the “big” bikes until I saw that he was lapping pretty much all of us. That 259 was stupid fast.
Well, I got smoked in the sand section at the last lake elsinore gp on my 1980 yz250 with an fmf built engine, by not only a 1975 cr125, but also by a fkng hodaka ace 100 and both had no more than 6" of rear wheel travel.
...but i blew by them at 70 mph on the straight section...but they still finished ahead of me.

Oh, by the way...
Years ago, when I was still reasonably fast, I did an off-road race in the mountains...
It was kind of an uphill special test that took about 40 minutes to complete and you had to do three times during the day...
Mostly very rough single tracks with lots of rocks, holes and roots...
I can tell you when you reached the top, you were spent.
Then you had to go back all the way down to the start, in a ski resort.
Many locals waited for us at the top with their downhill MTB, just to humiliate us...
And man, they sure did!
Bastards.

Nothing better than a 60 year old dude drinking a beer in the pits smoking these novices with their brand new bikes and gear.
This reminds me of when I was around 14 yrs. old and raced in the 80 expert class. A bunch of high scool dudes with big bikes who were just pit draggers were breaking my balls about my little 80 and how they heard I was a racer and all. I ran into these guys at our local sandpit/practice track one day and proceeded to smoke every one of them. It was instant karma for them and instant street cred for me.
Wasnt recent, and wasnt the last time, but it was my favorite. I was on a 250, going through a straight away, wasnt even choppy, it was a freeway. Kid on an 80 goes screaming past me, my ego was at an all time low. The only thing that made it better was that when i went back to the truck, I noticed that the 80 rider was Eli Tomac.
Back in either ‘79 or ‘80 I think, I was out at Indian dunes International track on an RM250, and this kid rolled up with his mom in a station wagon towing a YZ80, and just smoked everybody. Kid was Eric Kehoe! I can handle that!
Years ago, at my peak on the 98 YZ400 at an open practice at Moto Masters in Mexico NY... feeling pretty good and this kid just goes flying by, got roosted, etc. Turns out to be a young Bobby Kiniry, super nice kid and guy who had a pretty good career.
I was smoked by some chick at the Havasu worcs race a couple years ago while leading my class. Tarah Geiger. Didn't feel so bad after. Would smoke most on this site.
I got passed by Stewart at echeconnee (sp). I was 4th wide around a middle line in a big sweeper on a 250f. I heard a buzz, and there he went right around the outside while standing up. He was on a "100".

Don’t kid yourself Devin

And I'm old enough to be appreciative and not the least bit humiliated.
Probably will change when I'm roosted by an 8yo girl on a stupid POS electric bike.
